Chapter 9

When I woke it was hard to breath. My heart felt like it was broken in a million pieces. I keep my eyes close and tried to breath. "In and no it Layla in and out" I start to repeat to myself.

It wasn't working it was still hard to breath. Omg I want Shane, I want to have him in my arms... I want to hear his voice. I want to know if he okay. Why did this happen? Why to Shane? Why do The people of Alexandria have to be such idiots and attack my Country?

"Ahhhhh!" When I scream out loud I fling my arms around and slam them down on bed. When I do I hit something hard... And it groaned. I look over to the other side of bed.

"Whoa Princess you are stronger then I thought. That was a hard hit." "Zander?" "yeah? Are you okay now?"

Why is Zander on my bed what happen to Melissa? The last thing I remember was Melissa holding me on the ground...How did I get on the bed and why in the world is the Prince of Ravensville on my bed???

He was rubbing is chest where I hit him. Well he shouldn't of been on my bed. "What are you doing here?" He looked up at me. "I heard a scream and came running toward it. I found you on the floor with Melissa holding you."

All I wanted to know is why he was on my bed not here in my room. Duh! I said to myself as he continued..."I help Melissa put you on your bed and you started scream for someone named Shane. I just held you until you cried yourself to sleep."

"I don't remember any of that. Um there was an attack on Parker. My best friend is there for training he got stabbed I dont know if he is alright. I'm losing my mind." Zander didn't say anything he got up from my bed. "I'm sure he is fine Princess. I need to go."

He basically ran out the door. That was weird he look shocked and worried about something all at the same time. I wanted to scream. I glance over at my nightstand beside I see my phone flashing.

I pick it up and see there is a voicemail. I click on it. And a woman I dont reganize comes through the phone.

Hey Layla I know you don't know me but Im Jenna, I'm a nurse here at the training center. I have been taking care of Shane. There was an attack on Parker last night and Shane got stabbed in the side it was pretty big cut. He has lost a lot blood but he is doing better.

He as told me so much about you. When you guys were texting and he didnt answer you,that was when a couple of his stitches let lose so he lost a lot of blood. But dont worry he is doing just fine we are pumping some blood into him now and then he is going to rest.

I'm sure he will talk to you soon but if he doesn't dont worry he is just fine. He should be released to go back to Alexandria in the next couple days. I just wanted to let you know Layla. Take care.

I tried to to keep form crying but of course it didnt work. Omg Carmon! I wonder if she knows he's okay I got to tell her. I palm my phone and run to my door. I find Finn standing at my door.

He smiles at me bit it fades when he looks down at me. " Are you alright Layla?" I dont answer his question I just grab ahold of his arm and pull him down the hall. He follows along, when we get to the bottom of the steps I can hear my parents and what sounds like the Creeper talking in the dining room. I igonre them and continue to pull Finn to the kitchen.

I open the door to the kitchen and find Carmon and Melissa doing dishes. I run up to them and warp my arms around Carmon from behind. " Hey Sunshine girl." "Hi just listen." I say and play the voicemail form Jenna.

When it is over Carmon turns around and hugs me tight. She is crying but I know she is relived as I am. Shane is safe and coming home soon. We both are crying now and I hold her as tight as she is me. I smile, this is exactly where I need to be. In the arms of my second Mom. "Love you Carmon!" " I love you too Sunshine Girl." She says pulling me closer if that is possible.
