Chapter 3

"Layla, Princess wake up." I moan and turn on my side to face the voice. I open my eyes to find Shane kneeing down beside my bed. "Hey Hansom are you leaving now?" " I have a few minutes before I leave I just wanted to see you. Do you mind if I crawl in next to you and hold you like I use to do when we were younger?"

I shake me head and he smiles. Shane and I use to do that all the time but we always made sure that ethier of us were up and out of each others bed before Melissa or Carmon fond us. I hear Shane take of his boots. Then he crawls on my bed, he pulls me into his arms and I inhale deeply. I try to hold onto the smell of his cologne. He seems to be doing the same. He exhales and I smile. I know he is trying hold on to the sent of my lavender scented shampoo.

I turn so I can rest my head on his shoulder. I close my eyes and try to go back to sleep but can't. "Shane?" "Yeah Beautiful?" "Will you sing for me?" "Of course what song?" I dont have to even think of a song. "Two is better than one!" Boys like girls are my favorite band. I make Shane sing this song all the time. He sighs and starts at my favorite part. When he sings he plays with my hair. Which makes me sleepy. I close my eyes again and listen to my Prince sing to me.

"I have to go now Beautiful but I will talk to you soon. I will be back a day before your birthday. Dont get into much trouble without. See you soon my Princess."

He kisses the top of my head and crawls off my bed. He sits on the edge of my bed and puts his boots on. I hear him walk over to my side of the bed. He leans in close so he can whisper in my ear. "See you soon, I will call you when the sunsets. Bye Layla Sweetheart."

He kisses my cheek and walks towards the door. I reach out and grab his arm. "Shane?" "Yeah?" "I miss you already." "I know me too Beautiful." I let go of his arm and put it back under my head. I hear my door open and before Shane is out the door. I hear him whisper. Love you Layla to the moon and back."

I was start to say it back but I hear my door shut. WHOA! Shane hasn't said that to me since were ten. Does this mean he really means it? I close my eyes...

"Time for breakfast Sweet Girl." Melissa shakes me awake. " Can I just eat in my room?" "No Sweet Girl your parents want to talk to you." Grrrrr dont they know Shane left me and I won't get to see him for full two weeks! I sit up in bed. "Do you know what they want to talk to me about?" She shakes her head. "Great!"

I get out of bed and Melissa escorts me to the dinning room. If you haven't noticed I'm not aloud to walk alone anywhere. I have to be escorted everywhere. It drives me crazy!! I'm never alone until I'm in my room. But that doesn't last long there's always someone that needs to talk to me or that or something that I need to do.

Melissa opens the dinning room doors and seated at the table are my parents. They dont look to impressed, they both look tired. I sit in my usual spot right next to mom. I look up at my parents and they both smile. "Morning my angel." "Morning Daddy! Melissa said you guys want to talk to me?" He sighs and nods. "Angel, your birthday is in a few short weeks and there is something you must know...Your Mother and I are going to be stepping down from the throne which means you will become queen. But in oder for that to happen you will need to marry...so you are going to be meeting the Prince of Ravensville. And you will marry him."

I choke on my oatmeal. "WHAT!" "Layla Margert do not use that tone with me! It is the rules and you will follow them. You are meeting Prince Zander Brodrickson in two weeks. So in the mean time you will go to training so you can prepare for the future when you become Queen of Alexandria."

I throw my spoon down and take of running out of the dinning room. I hear my father yelling at me to come back. I don't turn around I just run down the hall to the kitchen. I open the door and run up to the one and only person that I know will tell me what to do. She wraps her arms around me and let's me cry. "I wish Shane was here!" "I know Sunshine Girl I know."

Carmon holds me until I have no more tears left. She has one of the grads carry me my bedroom. Finn puts me on my bed and I pull the pillow that Shane laid on last night to my chest. I close my eyes and inhale Shane's scent. I have to marry someone I don't even know. How is that even possible? How do you marry someone you dont even love?
