Chapter 38

Afraid

Tyler was going to dump me. I was sure of it. I am scared shitless of him dumping me, but I know it will happen.

This is the most upset I’ve ever seen him. I hope he doesn’t dump me, I don’t know what I would do.

We waited in the boarding pass line, and finally got to the front of the line.

A lady shouted, “Next!” And Tyler and I walked up to the counter.

He said in a firm voice, “Listen, are there any last minute tickets for a flight to Arizona, Phoenix?”

The woman’s face was blank. No expression. I chewed my tongue like a maniac. It looked like I was chewing some really hard gum.

The lady stared into Tyler’s eyes, and said, “I highly doubt it, but I’ll check.”

Tyler nodded, and turned to me, gaping at me. He asked annoyance in his voice, “What the fuck are you doing?”

“Chewing gum,” I said casually back.

But I lied. I was chewing my bloody tongue. There was some cuts and scrapes from my teeth scraping against it.

He narrowed his eyes, and remarked, “You don’t have gum.”

I spat, “How do you know?”

He said casually, “Because I know every move you take. You’re not chewing gum. I’m pretty sure you’re chewing you’re tongue.”

The woman got back to us, “Yes, there is one ticket available.”

Tyler’s face went blank, and so did mine. Tyler stuttered, “O-one, only o-one?”

The woman nodded, and asked, “Why is that a problem? There is only one of you…”

Tyler moved out of the way, so I was visible. The ladies mouth hung open, and she said, “Well, the next flight to Phoenix is in a couple of days…”

Tyler clenched his fists and slammed his right one of the counter, making every one jump and stare at us.

“I need to get home, now!” He grumbled.

I murmured, “Tyler, calm down. Don’t turn vamp-,”

He cut me off, “Shut up Carissa! I wasn’t fucking talking to you! You’re the reason we are in this mess, you’re the reason for everything! Ever since I met you, you’ve been nothing but trouble!” He screeched from the top of his lungs.

I stuttered, “No actually-,” I paused, and sighed while I said the heart breaking words, “I know.”

A tear fell from my eye, and I ran out of the line, gesturing for the café.

Tyler’s P.O.V:

And there she goes again, being her dramatic self. Like honestly, shut the fuck up.

Stop being a fucking baby and stop crying for no reason. My heart breaking words are true.

Well, maybe not the total truth, but it is the truth…

Carissa’s P.O.V:

Instead of the café, I ran outside of the airport, and sat down on an uncomfortable bench.
