Chapter 22

The book

I was fully dressed, and I was sitting on the couch. I asked, “What are you making for dinner?” He mumbled, “Beef, potatoes, and salad.” I mumbled, “What are you going to eat?” He muttered, “I’m going hunting.” I nodded, while my eyes were glued to SpongeBob.

It was still on! “Baby, do you have to go hunting every night?” He turned around and I pouted. He told me, “Babe, you think I want to go? If I don’t go, I will get hungry, and when vampires are really hungry, they can die instantly. I’m really hungry now, but it’s too early.”

I pouted again, and asked, “Is it true that you guys die if the sun hits you?” He wiped on a stupid look. “I just went swimming, in the bright of day, did I die?” I muttered, “Okay, you don’t have to be an ass about it.” He laughed and I giggled.

He got serious, and he told me to wait there. He walked into a walk-in closet, and took out an old, dusty book. He came back, and showed it to me.

He told me, “This book, is the book you get when you turn into a vampire, or when you are born a vampire. I was born a vampire, since both my parents are vampires. The king and queen send this book to you, every vampire has one. I have one, my mother had one, and my dad has one, Nathan has one, every vampire has one.”

I asked, “Cool, what’s in the book?” He replied, “Well, everything you need to know. It has all of the addresses and phone numbers to any other vampire in the world. It has secrets about vampires; anything you need to know about vampires is in here. It tells you how the king and queen work, but baby, you can’t tell anyone about this."

He added, "If anyone finds out that I told a human, and they are a vampire, they can tell the king and queen and they will transport me to Transylvania, and execute me right away. If Nathan finds out, he will tell the king, and I will be executed. So you can’t tell anyone, okay?”

I nodded my head, and kissed him on the lips. “Baby, I won’t tell anyone.” He nodded, his face brightened up. He told me, “The rules to this book are in the inside, back of the front cover.”

He opened up the cover, and scanned the page. It was unbelievable writing, a list running down the page, like the Ten Commandments. He handed me the book, and told me to read the 6 rules. I read,

Nicromands Rules and restrictions

1.       Thou shall not reveal to man-kind

2.      Thou shall respect thou king and queen

3.       Thou shall drink the blood of man-kind or animal, none of your kind

4.       Thou shall ask the permission of thou king and queen to turn man-kind into a vampire

5.      Thou shall stay with thee brother, sister, mother or father

6.       Thou shall use the dagger to connect the blood of thee

If any of these rules are disobeyed, thou shall be sent to your king and queen for immediate execution

My eyes widened. “Wow… this is so cool!” He smiled, and reminded me, “Yeah, but I broke 2 of these rules.” He pouted. “Don’t worry baby, your secret is safe with me.” He smiled and showed me some information about the king and queen.

He showed me a picture of them. They were young, and sitting a gold thrown, crowns made of gold, rubies and diamonds glistening in the light. Their eyes were blood red, their eyes wide open. I asked, “Why are there eyes so wide open?” He told me, “That’s how their eyes always are. It’s weird.” I nodded.
