Chapter 40

Mitchel

Carissa’s P.O.V:

My only other hope was to call the one boy who made me feel so special… who made me feel like I was just born.

That boy was Mitchel.

I went to my contact list, and scanned them over, until I finally found Mitchel’s name.

I pressed on it, and clicked ‘call’. I put the phone up to my ear, waiting for his beautiful, sexy voice to erupt out of the phone speaker.

After three rings, his sexy voice answered, “Hello?”

I got startled, and responded, “Mitch! Mitchel, it’s me, Carissa.”

His voice brightened, “Carissa! Hey! How are you? What’s up? Are you back in Phoenix yet?”

He trailed off. I stuttered, “U-uh, well, y-you see, um, no.”

He asked, “What’d you mean ‘no’?”

I recited, “Mitch, Tyler and I broke up,” The tears of sorrow started to fall from my eyes, and now I was choking my words out, he could barely understand me.

“He got us two tickets, and now… he’s on the plane… without me. I don’t have money, any credit card, or cash, and I’m stuck here. What am I going to do? I needed help…” I trailed off.

Silence, that’s what happened. Mitchel finally replied, “Oh, Carry, I’m so sorry.”

At the moment, I didn’t care whoever called me Carry. I just needed to be home… safe.

“I would give you money… but I can’t pay for your whole ticket. You’re going to need to pitch in. I can give you half of the cash, because I’m tight on cash too."

He continued, "How about this? How ‘bout you come over, and stay here until you have enough money. You could work, and earn the cash.” He suggested.

I chewed on my lower lip, as the tears sagged down into my mouth. I choked on them, coughed, and spat saliva mixed tears out onto the ground.

“Sounds good… but are you sure I can stay with you for that long?”

He mumbled, “Mmmmmmm, of course you can. My home is yours.”

I giggled, and let out a sigh of relief. Alright… well, I kind of need a ride…” I pointed out.

“I’ll come pick you up.”

He offered. “Thanks, Mitch. I can always count on you.”

He chuckled, and murmured, “Of course you can always count on me. See you soon, bye.”

Tyler’s P.O.V:

Something was missing. Something was missing in my life. Taking off, knowing I left the love of my life back across the ocean, hurt.

And it was my fault.

I should have taken her back, for she did say that she didn’t mean the heart breaking words.

She had no money, and I was the monster with the ticket that she desperately needed. I’m a monster.

She needed that ticket more than I did, but I stood my ground. Sometimes staying on your ground is the wrong choice.
