I jump out of bed with Max right behind me. I go down to the kitchen to get some cereal. Asher walks in and grabs a granola bar and walks back to his bedroom.
I finish my cereal and then run back upstairs to get dressed. I pick out skinny jeans, my monogram shirt, and white converse. My mom got me my monogram shirt for me so I wear it to make her happy. It makes me happy when my family is happy.
I go to my bathroom and curl the ends of my hair. Yeah I know, I don't like stuff like that but I like the ends of my hair curled because my mom got me into a habit with it. Then I rub lotion on my face and apply powder. I brush my teeth as well. I check myself in the mirror to make sure I look alright.
I leave Max in my room as I go downstairs with my bright teal backpack. I yell bye to everyone as I walk out the door. I walk over to Hunters and knock on the front door.
"Hi April! I'm sure you're waiting on Hunter, am I right?" Hunter's mom- Amy- says when the door opened. I smile. "Well Hunter called yesterday and said he would give me a ride to school today. So here I am." I tell her. I mean, I really like Hunter's mom and all but she's just really, what's the word I'm thinking of... oh yeah, bubbly.
"Oh I'm sorry. Hunter got sick last night. He might have forgotten to call you." Amy gives me a little pout. "I'll have to get on to him about that. Maybe tomorrow if he's feeling better. I'll see you later though. He won't be at baseball practice either." She smiles at me and then closes the door.
Let's see, how am I going to get to school? Mom and dad are probably at work and Asher will be leaving for his bus stop soon...
Lightbulb!
I run to the garage and punch in the code. Then I grab a helmet and jump on dad's motorcycle, well it's my motorcycle now. Dad gave it to me a month ago. He had been working on it for me. It was his but mom thinks he'll get hurt if he's riding it because he's getting old so he gave it to me.
I start the engine and pull out. I close the garage before I leave. The motorcycle is jet black and the helmet is to. I love black. I'm glad the motorcycle is black because it wouldn't have matched my helmet otherwise. It only takes a few minutes to get to the school so I won't be late.
I park my motorcycle and then I place the keys in my pocket so no one can steal them and run away with my motorcycle. I place my helmet in a compartment under the seat and then walk up to the school. Some of the kids walking in noticed my motorcycle and are looking at it with mouths wide opened. I smile and walk to my locker.
Once I have my things I go to homeroom. Oh but lucky me, I get stopped on the way by the popular kids. Notice my sarcasm?
"Hey nerd, where did you get that motorcycle? Does your parents know you stole it?" They all laugh as they surround me like a pack of wolves about to pounce on their prey.
"Oh you know. I just found it in a dumpster. No of course I didn't steal it. My dad gave it to me, duh..." I say rolling my eyes. The best way to not feel intimidated is to act cool under pressure. "Now excuse me, I need to get to my class if you don't mind." I try to push them out of the way but they don't move.
"Give us the keys nerd." One of them says. The others agree to this.
"No I am not giving you the keys to my motorcycle."
"Yes you are, because we said so." Another person says.
"Yeah? Who's going to make me?" I ask fearing the answer. But of course what I don't want to happen happens anyway.
They all part back to let someone pass. Jackson. The biggest bully on the earth if you ask me. I've seen him do things. Push people off seats, take people's lunch money, break into kids lockers. I've seen it all, and I thought I had it bad at my old school.
"Hand over the keys like a good little girl. If you do, I won't make you cry." Jackson says holding out his hand with a smirk on his face. "No." I say.
"What did you say?" Jackson says narrowing his eyes at me.
"She said no so get out of her way Jackson." A new voice that I know comes from behind me. All of the popular kids rush off as I turn around to find Theo behind me. "Thanks?" I say as we walk down the hallway together.
"Your welcome. Anytime." He says. "Where did you get that motorcycle?" He asks me. I can tell he's curious. I bet he's always wanted one.
"It was my dad's but he gave it to me. It's in perfect shape. Do you want a ride after practice today?" I ask knowing what he'll say.
"Of course. That will be fun. I've always wanted to ride one." He says nodding his head. He drops me off at my homeroom and then walks to his. I go in and wait for morning announcements to start.
