I wake up to sunshine streaming through the windows. I sit up and stretch. It's my first day at the academy today. I'm really excited.

I climb out of my bed and go to my closet to put some clothes on. I put on skinny jeans with a long-sleeved black shirt and a black vest. I put on my white converse and tie them. Then I go to my bathroom to get ready.

Once I'm done I go downstairs with my book bag and grab a chocolate chip muffin. I give mom a hug and then I walk outside. I take a deep breathe. It's nice out today. Maybe I should go for a run later.

I put my helmet on and then pull out of the driveway. Then I make my way to school. Once I get there I park and walk inside. I put my stuff away and walk to homeroom. Hunter comes in and sits next to me. "Why weren't you at practice yesterday?" He asks. I shrug my shoulders. I don't know if I can trust him with my secret yet. "I had some things I had to do. I quit the team anyways." I say with another shrug. Hunter's face is a mess of confusion. "Why did you quit? Baseball is your favorite thing to do." He asks sounding suspicious as I knew he would.

"Maybe it's not anymore. I have a life. I have other things I need to do." I say hoping that he'll believe me. Then all of a sudden hurt flashes across his face. "Oh I get it. You're probably spending time with Theo. You're new best friend." Now it's my time to feel hurt.

"What do you mean? I'm not spending time with Theo after school, and Hunter, you're my best friend not Theo. After school I go to my Uncle Matt's house to help him with different things. You can ask my parents." I know, I don't go to my Uncle Matt's house but if Hunter did ask my parents I know they would say yes because that's what I told them to tell people if they asked where I was. Uncle Matt was ok with it.

Hunter shrugs his shoulders. "Sorry that's what I thought because Theo quit the team also. I thought you two were spending more time together." He looks hurt again by just voicing his thoughts. I really feel bad. "Hunter, yes Theo and I are friends but you are my best friend. Don't forget that." I say. I wonder why Theo quit the team. He's also one of the best players. But why did he quit? I'll have to ask him later.

Our conversation has to come to a stop as the teacher gets everybody's attention. I face forward as morning announcements start.
