Chapter 4

 I look at Uncle Matt questioningly. What happened? Uncle Matt answers the look on my face. "Your superpowers? I saw them with the football." Uh oh. Uncle Matt saw me. I'm in for trouble. I decide to play cool.

"What superpowers? I thought superpowers were fiction." I say not looking at Uncle Matt because if I do I won't be able to hide my secret.

"April, You need to learn how to use these superpowers because if you don't bad things can happen." I give up.

"What do you mean? How do I have superpowers? Why do I have them? How can I control them? Why is it-" Uncle Matt waves his hand and I feel my tongue go limp. I stare in shock at him.

"April, let me explain before you talk my ear off with questions." He sits down on a chair. I climb off my loft bed and sit in my fluffy chair so he doesn't have to look up at me. Max sits by my side. Uncle Matt takes a deep breathe. "April, our family is a special family. These superpowers that you have found inside yourself, well, you're not the only one in the family. This skips every other generation. So I inherited the powers and your mother did not. You inherited the powers and Asher did not. This does not happen on your dad's side of the family. My grandfather had these powers and he taught me how to use them well. I will help you as best as I can. I always thought you would end up getting them. I watched you and Asher closely when you were children to see if it would happen to one of you. You would show signs of it while Asher would not." Uncle Matt looks out the window and continues. "It is very important that you keep these powers secret. Do not tell anyone. There are forces in this world that are evil and will stop at nothing to destroy you."

Uncle Matt looks out the window again. Then back at me. "Will you let me help you?" I nod my head very eagerly wanting to learn about these powers.

"I'll talk with your dad and your mom and we'll figure something out." He waves his hand and my tongue starts to move. I hug Uncle Matt and he hugs me to.

Uncle Matt gets up and leaves my room. I guess I'll be training my powers now. I look down at Max and he looks up at me. It looks like he's smiling.
