The rest of the day flies past and to soon Theo and I are on my motorcycle going home. I think we both had a wonderful first day. We didn't really talk to anyone but ourselves. But it's only the first day so there will be plenty of other days to talk with people. All the teachers seemed nice I guess.

I drop Theo off at his house and then I drive home. Max sits at the front door waiting for me. "Hey buddy." I say when I walk through the door. I scratch him between the ears and then walk upstairs to my room. I sit down at my desk and start my homework. From Bradford and Groves.

Once I'm finished I go back downstairs to dad's study. He looks up when I walk in. "Hey April. How was your first day at the academy?"

"It went really well actually. I didn't talk to anyone but Theo though."

"Who's Theo?"

"You know. The boy who was on my baseball team? The guy who rides my motorcycle with me?"

"Oh that one. What's he doing at the academy then?"

"He's got superpowers to dad."

"That's nice. At least you have a friend. Go help your mother set the table for dinner. She had a rough day at work sweetie."

I nod my head and he looks back down at his papers. I walk to the kitchen where I see mom cooking some chicken. I walk behind her and wrap my arms around her. Then I rest my head on her shoulder.

"You're getting too tall." She tells me without turning around.

"I can't stay little forever mom."

"I know. I miss it when you and Asher were younger though. You two were so cute and adorable!"

"Are you saying I'm not cute anymore?" I ask with a smile.

"No. You are to cute! We're going to have to lock you in your room because all the boys on the street will be chasing you." She says. I roll my eyes. Does she really think boys will be chasing me? No one even likes me like that!

"Hey, can I set the table?"

"Of course. The silverware and plates are in the cabinets." She says pointing. I get out the silverware and plates and set the table.

When I'm done I plop down on the couch with Max laying by my feet. I turn the TV on and watch baseball. A few minutes later mom tells me it's time for dinner so I turn the TV off and sit at the table.

Asher and dad come in as mom fills the plates with food. "Yum." Asher says. I roll my eyes. After dad gives thanks we start to eat.

"How was your day at the academy?" Mom asks me.

"It was good. I enjoyed History. Learning about the past is always fun. We learned about how some people got powers and others didn't and why there were powers in the first place."

"I'm glad you enjoyed it."

Later after everyone's done with dinner I go outside to my treehouse. I sit in the opening with my legs dangling in the air. I sigh. It feels good out tonight. I can't wait for tomorrow. I love learning and using my superpowers. It's so much fun!

When it starts getting darker out I go inside and put my pajamas on. A t-shirt and shorts. I climb into bed and a moment later Max joins me. "Lights off." I smile as the lights turn off and I close my eyes hugging Max close.
