Chapter 21

It's been a week. I've learned so much. Plus Theo and my art project had finally made it's way to the great wall.

I wake up and sit up in bed. Max is curled against my side. I lay on top of him and stroke his soft hair. I don't have school today. Yesterday at the academy we had to get those injections again. Ugh... I just really dislike needles. I lift my arm and look at the big bandage where they placed the injection.

I climb out of bed and put on skinny jeans and a white short sleeved shirt that has a German Shepard on it. Then I walk downstairs to eat breakfast. I still have to go to the academy but only for half the day. Theo will be there also so I'll be picking him up like always.

Once I'm done eating my cereal I go back upstairs to brush my hair and my teeth. Then I grab my book bag and go downstairs with my white converse on.

I give mom a hug before I leave and then I go and hop on my motorcycle. After I put on my helmet I pull out and drive to Theo's. When I get there he's already outside waiting for me.

He climbs on and puts on the other helmet and then I drive towards the academy. When we get there I park and we walk inside.

"You tired?" Theo asks.

"A little I guess." I answer looking over at him.

"Same."

We walk to our first class which is PE. We walk in and head to the locker rooms. Theo to the boys and me to the girls. But before we reach the locker rooms everyone already changed and on the bleachers stands up and they all start walking single file towards the doors. I look at Theo with a worried glance. He returns my look. Then before anyone can grow suspicious we hurry and join them.

We walk for a little bit but we finally end up in the long hallway. It's called the long hallway because it's very long and pretty wide. We find other lines of students along the hallway so we just follow our line until we stop and face the direction where everyone else is facing.

Theo and I stand a bit taller to look like everyone else. They all look... robotic? This is all very weird. Then Headmaster Professor James walks in front of all the lines and starts talking.

"I think the injections are working nicely. Well done. Now Professor Ruby? Flip that switch so then I may speak to them and give them their instructions." I heard a switch being thrown but nothing happened. Professor James started to speak again so I listened closely. Instructions?

"Students. You're mission is to go out into the city and whoever will not bow down to me will be destroyed. If you find anyone not willing to bow down, destroy them immediately. Anyone who is willing, bring them here to the academy and place them in the gym. Soon I will be in control of the city. Once I'm in control we'll go on to other cities surrounding us and soon we will have a kingdom. I will be the king and you all will be my trusted subjects. Now, go fulfill your mission!" After this he turned away and I heard the same switch being thrown. Oh no.

I give Theo a side glance and he does the same to me. All the students start filing out of the academy and into the city. Oh no. We have to stop this.

I slowly start moving to the left and Theo follows me. I move slowly to the door Professor James had left through. But then I see the machine that where the switch is. Professor Ruby has left so I edge towards it. I hear a noise and look around widely to see if a Professor saw me. Thankfully no. I edge closer to it and I flip the switch. Hopefully it helps with something.

Then I go back to the door where Professor James had gone through. Theo sticks with me the whole time. I open the door and then hold it for Theo to pass through behind me. Then we walk down another hallway. At the end is a door. It's the only door in the hallway besides the one we just entered in. Theo and I walk carefully down the hallway towards the door.
