Katie's POV
I feel weightless and terrified, sweat covering my face. My heart races and I writhe in silent agony. The room is dark, but I can still see the pale face in front of me.
"Look at you, so naïve to believe a simple lie," the voice says, and my heart breaks to hear who it is. I open my mouth to scream, but nothing comes out.
He presses the wickedly sharp golden scepter against my throat, the enchanted gold cutting into my skin. I feel nauseous. The cold fingers run themselves down my jawbone, sending shivers down my spine.
"It's a shame, really," the voice says. My palms are slick, no fire or ice coming to save me. I clamp my eyes shut tight, feeling the blade slide closer to its destination. Tears come in multitudes.
My body is limp, knowing already the end is near. I feel the warm blood trickling down my throat.
"Never should have believed the god of mischief. Ice won't save you from the monster parents tell their children about," his voice goes on. I feel dizzy, severe pain rolling throughout my body. The cold fingers hold my jaw and chin, tilting my face up to his.
"LOOK AT ME!" he yells, and I force my eyes open. Jade eyes pierce my heart. I look at him, wanting to pull the blade out of my neck. I manage a weak whimper, making him laugh.
"All I want is to be king. You are so expendable," he says. My breathing gets ragged and short. I close my eyes again, feeling the life leave.
I burst awake, tears streaming down my face. My hair is plastered to my face, sweat covering my arms. I run through the halls, not looking back. Silently running through the corridors. I rush outside, feeling the snow on my face, but I don't stop. I run and run and run.
I run through the forest, through the village. At some point, I fly. I fly through the sky, drifting towards the mountains.
Suddenly, I stop. I'm sitting in the Anarchy throne room looking at my still-frozen father. The tears catch up with me, and I sit, sobbing. I feel so weak and heartbroken, feeling a familiar pain seizing my ribs. My breathing gets tight, but I don't do anything.
Once I've cried away the pain, I look at the ice statues of the Anarchy. The faces are of terror, frozen forever in a panicking run. I walk over to my father, gently setting an arm on his frozen one. Not as gently as I though, though, as I watch in shock. He falls to the ground, shattering.
I gape at what I've done, not sure if it really just happened. I sit on the floor, surrounded by the remains of him, setting my palms on the floor. The beautiful gloves still cover my hands, and I pull them off, setting them in my lap.
Frost spreads on the floor, uncontrolled by me. What am I doing?! The frost climbs the walls, coating them in intricate patterns. I slip the gloves back on my fingers, curling into the fetal position and wrapping myself in the cloak, which is black now, from who knows what. My heavy eyes close themselves, leaving me in a little ball surrounded by ice.

When I wake up, Frigga is looking at me. She frowns.
"Are you alright? Did Loki do something to you?" she asks, concern filling her voice. I sit up, feeling a pain in my head. I'm sitting in Frigga's personal room. It's not a bedroom, just her room.
"He- he didn't do anything, I had a dream," I stutter, feeling a bit feverish.
"What happened, baby?" she asks. She has started to be my mom, always caring for me. I think back to the nightmare. Tears wet my eyes, and I pull the cloak around me.
"It will be okay, love," she whispers, holding my hand. I relax, but I'm apprehensive to see Loki. After a few moments of relaxation, she helps me up and takes me to my room. Frigga goes through my closet, settling on a gray dress with light blue accents. She undresses me and frowns at my bony frame.
"You need to eat!" she chastises me. "I can see your ribs!" I nod, pulling the dress on. It hangs slightly loose on my figure. Frigga pulls my hair into a bun atop my head and nestles the crown in front of it. She ties the cloak around my neck, the hood hanging down.
"Beautiful!" she says, pulling me to the dining hall, which is empty. Frigga seats me in front of a bowl of hot oatmeal and hands me a spoon. I spoon a little into my mouth. Little by little, I finish the bowl.
Frigga smiles at me, and now I know she is hiding something.
"Where is everyone?" I ask. Frigga looks at me, and for a second, her falsetto breaks. Her composure comes back, but I know.
"Where are they?!" I whisper, anger flooding my voice. I walk towards the table that she stands behind. She looks at me, expressionless. I slam my hands on the table, leaving shards of ice on the table. I gape at the ice, and Frigga gasps.
"The gloves, Frigga, I need those gloves," I whisper. She hands me the gloves, and I pull them onto my cold fingers. "I'm so sorry."
"It's all right, I should not have kept this from you..." she hesitates. "He's gone."
"Who?" I ask, even though I know the answer.
"Loki is gone, the Bifrost is broken, and Heimdall is in a coma," she whispers, tears coming fast. I wrap my arms around her, holding her tight.
"Odin and Thor went to search, didn't they?" I ask, but I know the answer to that question, too. I carry Frigga to her bed, then I run to the ballroom.
I sit at the piano, plinking out loud melodies without purpose, trying to beat the frost. But the frost won't stop, and I pull off the gloves.
The frost coats the room, icicles forming on the ceiling. I scream and cry, knowing that this is helping no one. I watch the ice glitter, swirling along the walls in frosty patterns. Everything is covered and my throat feels scratchy, so I sit and cry, wrapping myself in the black cloak.
Odin comes and carries me to my room, and I know from his mind that Loki is on earth. I lay curled into a ball like a little child on the bed.
