"Remember, when you have no words to say, music speaks a thousand languages. Emotion is everything. I'll see you all tomorrow." The sound of the bell ringing mixed with Mr. Edwards' voice only made my headache worse than it already was. I slowly picked my head off the cool desk and slid my books in my bag. I could feel someone watching me, but I didn't want to socialize. I just wanted to go home and medicate.

"Sarah."

"Not interested for the last time. I'm busy. I have practice. I'll give any excuse just to say no," I said, as I slowly stood up.

"Too bad. Wear something cute tonight." I stared up silently at Rhett and rolled my eyes. He just doesn't give up.

"Hey, we still on for tonight?" THANK YOU!

I looked to Avi and nodded a bit, trying to smile, though it failed. "Anytime is fine with me."

"I thought you said you were busy," Rhett said, clearly irritated at the sudden appearance.

"I am. This project is way more important than you. Even if I wasn't busy and I was interested, I'm not feeling it."

"You seemed fine Friday night."

"Yeah well life has a way of being a bitch. Now do me a favor and leave me alone," I said, shrugging my bag over my shoulder and walking out of the room before I exploded.

I reached my car in record time, only to find Scott, Mitch, and Kirstie waiting. "Hey, we're going shopping. Wanna join?"

"I can't. I have plans," I said, throwing my things in the back and climbing in. "Maybe next week," I said and shut the door starting the car. I left rather quickly, starting to feel worse by the minute. After picking up Nathan and getting home, I went straight to my room and threw myself on my bed, groaning in pain and irritation.

Reaching over to my bedside table, I grabbed a small bottle of medicine and opened it, only to find it empty. "Really?" I mumbled, slowly crawling out of bed. I sighed as I took my time changing into my Cookie Monster onsie before laying back down, trying to relax while I could.

Avi's POV

"I thought you had a project to be working on," Esther said as I finished eating a banana.

"I do. I'll go over there later. She seemed kind of off-putting earlier," I said, tossing the peel in the trash. "Is it just me or did you notice it too?"

"I noticed it, but I know why."

"Tell me."

"I shouldn't have to. The lazy clothes, the moodiness, the lack of talking? It all speaks for itself," she said, leaving me confused as she walked away. Shaking my head a bit, I headed up to my room and grabbed my guitar case and tossed it over my shoulder before making sure I had my notes.

As I left and closed my door, Esther stopped me, thrusting an unmarked box in my arms. "What's this?"

"Don't look in it. Just take it with you. And get some ice cream. Probably something with chocolate. Give them to her and you'll be her favorite person for the next week."

Everything slowly clicked into place as I looked at her and nodded. "Oh, okay." I grabbed my keys and walked out, doing exactly what she told me to. I picked up some cookie dough ice cream before following the directions my phone gave me to Sarah's place. I didn't drive my car as often as I'd like, but that's because of Esther. She's so passionate about the Earth so we got into the rhythm of me just catching a ride with her to school.

Balancing everything without dropping anything was a feat in itself, but knocking made it a lot harder. I didn't know what was in that box but it was heavy. The door soon opened, revealing a boy not much shorter than me with brown hair. "Um, is Sarah here?"
