Sarah's POV

I sat silently, my fingers playing with the ends of my hair and my eyes trained on the blonde across from me. "Are you guys going to prom?" Kirstie finally asked, looking up from her lap to find me watching her.

I shook my head, finally pulling my eyes away. I wasn't actually staring at her, I just zoned out. "Nah. It's just a bunch of people in revealing dresses gyrating on people," I said with a small laugh. I moved my hands to my sweats, messing lazily with the strings to keep them busy.

"Don't hate on gyrations," Scott said from his spot on the floor. "I'm not saying who, but when they're really into it, one of us is a gyrating queen slash king." I raised a dark eyebrow as I rolled my eyes. "But on a serious note, I'm not going either. I'm just not feeling it this year. Besides, if we skip prom, we can leave for New York that day," he said, excitement filling his voice.

"I'm down," Esther said, her head resting on Kevin's shoulder. I ship it. "How much money have you raised?" she asked suddenly, everyone's attention turning on me.

"Enough for a round trip flight and some spending money. Not a lot of spending money, but some, and I'm sure I can talk my mom into giving me some. Besides, if I run out, I'll see if she can transfer some into my account," I said, leaning back on what I thought was my bed until I felt a pair of arms wrap around me.

"That's cute," Mitch said, a wide smile spreading across his structured face.

"You're cute," I retorted with a giggle.

"Who thinks Avi's cute?" Kevin asked, immediately raising his hand.

"I do," I said seriously even though I broke out in a fit of giggles. To be honest, I had gotten so comfortable that I forgot he was behind me.

"That's humbling," Avi said, resting his bearded chin on top of my head.

I looked over at Scott to see him typing away on his laptop, finishing up before looking around at everyone else. "Plane tickets have been purchased."

"So what exactly are we going to do when we get there?" Kirstie asked curiously as she looked up from her phone.

"A lot of Coney Island," Esther said immediately, her eyes lighting up. I nodded in agreement. "A lot of sight-seeing too. I've never been."

"Can we go on top of the Empire State Building?" Mitch suggested, crawling over to Scott and resting his head in his lap.

"I have to agree. It would be really cool. That and the Statue of Liberty. Fake IDs and clubs sounds just as enticing though," I pitched in jokingly, though it was a possibility for me. I didn't mind going clubbing when I got bored.

"I think three months is plenty of time to do all of that," Scott said just as there was a knock on the door. My mom opened it holding two boxes of pizza.

"Food?" she asked, walking in and setting them on the end of the bed. "So where do you plan on staying on this cross country trip?"

Typical. "Scott's parents have a loft we can stay at," I told her with a small sigh. "You don't have to worry. I'm pretty sure we can take care of ourselves," I added, raising an eyebrow. Considering we had abilities no one else did, I'd say we could anyway.

"Fair enough. You still leaving Sunday?"

"Saturday since we're not going to prom."

"You're not?" she asked. "But that's like a major event.

"A major even that I'm not feeling this year. Besides, I still have next year," I said. She hesitated before nodding and left, closing the door behind her. We spent the rest of the night planning and eating until we literally passed out.

When we woke the next morning, we didn't say much as we all got ready for school. "Five more days," Esther mumbled sleepily just as she let out a long yawn.

"Same," I said with a slight laugh. Once we finished, we headed off to school, still tired but excited at the same time. The day went by fairly quickly, and lunch soon came around. We sat, eating and talking about things we were planning on doing. Kirstie spent her time chiming in occasionally, but texting on her phone most of the time.

"Who are you talking to that's got you so smiley?" I finally asked, lightly kicking her under the table.

"Jeremy," she answered, never taking her eyes off her phone.

"Why don't you just tell him to come sit with us? Anyone that makes you happy is a friend of ours," Scott told her, earning nods from everyone else.

She hesitated but nodded and began typing. I looked over to see Mitch with his head against Scott, and Esther in the same position with Kevin. I wish they would just get together already. Both of them. My thoughts stopped as I noticed a hand leaving my plate. "Take my food again and I will hit you," I said, looking over at Avi who had a cheeky grin on his face. They probably thought the same thing about us. Sure, we were really flirty with each other, but we weren't official or anything. Same as the others.

Moments later, Jeremy sat down next to Kirstie, a smile on his face. At least they admit they're talking. "What are you guys talking about?"

"Does he know?" Mitch asked Kirstie as he sat up. She nodded with a shy smile.

"He knows. We were just talking about the trip," she told him.

"Oh right, New York all summer," he said. He put on a brave face, but his eyes told me something different. He probably wasn't the happiest that the girl he liked was going across the country for the summer with a group of six other people and only two of those being girls.

From what I could tell, Kirstie noticed it too. "Don't worry," she said. "We'll be back before you know it."

"Hey Red!" I rolled my eyes and sighed at the familiar voice and the irritating nickname.

"Rhett."

"So I was thinking. If you don't have a date yet, you should go to prom with me. It would get you some major points with the cool kids."

I felt an arm wrap around my waist, and somehow, it was comforting. That was until I realized it wasn't Avi, but Scott and he was keeping my temperature down. "I'm not going. In fact, I'm leaving that day."

"Leaving?"

"I'm going to New York for the summer and I'm leaving Saturday," I said.

"I have a hard time believing that."

"Well believe it," Avi spoke up. "Because she is. We all are."

"Not me though," Jeremy chimed in.

"Oh, Avriel. I didn't see you there. Say, this afternoon are you up for a little bit of target practice?" Rhett held up his hand, his fingers shaping into a gun as he pretended to fire it at him.

I wasn't entirely sure what happened after that. A lot of screaming and pulling. All I knew was after my mini blackout, I had Rhett pinned underneath me on top of the table next to the one I was sitting at. "Sarah, your hair!" Kevin's voice pierced my ears, and I knew immediately what he was talking about. My hair was starting to catch on fire.

I slowly let my temperature drop, but I didn't budge and even people tugging on me wasn't helping. "Next time, I won't go so easy on you. I've had enough of your bull and I'm not letting it slide again. I know you've seen what I can really do, but what you saw is nothing compared to what happens when I get angry. And I promise you, you won't like it." I quickly climbed off the table, only to have a hand grab my arm.

"My office, now. All of you!" I realized the principal wasn't just talking to both myself and Rhett, but the others as well since they had seen the whole thing. This was going to be a long week.

A/N: So I felt like adding a little bit more action into this book for the time being. OH ANNOUNCEMENT! I am currently working on a new book that I hope you guys will like since you seem to like this one so much. It still centers around PTX (obviously) but it, too, has a bit of a fantasy element in it as well. It should be up in a few weeks or whenever I finish Unbreakable because I can only work on two books at a time. Love ya!
