"Back to School"
When I woke up the next morning I felt groggy. I hadn’t been up at 6:30 in a whole week and I couldn’t seem to get up. When I finally did I jumped in the shower and that woke me up a little more. After I got out I quickly blow dried and brushed my hair before I went to my closet to pick out my clothes for the day.
I chose my white, ripped up, skinny jeans, a green t-shirt, and my black kicks. I walked back into my bathroom into pull my hair up into a ponytail but I changed my mind. I decided it would look good down today so I just brushed it and parted it over to the side that way it covered my left eye. I thought it looked nice so I grabbed my bag and my phone and walked down stairs. I had just made it to the bottom when I heard a knock at the door. I quickly walked over to it and opened it to see Aidan standing on the other side.
“Hey,” I said with a smile. He didn’t say anything back but continued to stare at me. “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing. I’ve just never seen you with your hair down,” he said as he continued to stare at me.
“Well, let me go grab a pop tart and I’ll be ready to go,” I said as I walked into the kitchen. After I grabbed a strawberry pop tart I walked back out to where he was.
“Ready,” he asked me.
“Yeah,” I said as I made sure I had my phone, purse, and backpack. We walked out to his truck and he gave me another boost before he went around to climb into his own seat.
“Why did you leave your hair down,” he asked me after we pulled out of the driveway.
“I don’t know. I just decided it would be a good day to leave it down.”
“Oh,” was all he said.
During the whole trip to the school I could see him glancing over at me. It was starting to make me self-conscious. I hid my face behind my hair and turned to look out the window. When we pulled into the parking lot, I saw all of my friends standing in the courtyard looking around. I guess they were waiting on us.
As soon as he parked I grabbed my bag and hopped down. He met me at the front of the truck and we walked in silence over to where my friends were. I saw Amber’s eyes pop wide when she saw me. That should show you how many times I have ever left my hair down.
“You left your hair down,” Amber squealed as soon as we got to them.
“Yes I did,” I said back.
“You look pretty,” Patrick said with a small smile. I smiled back at him before turning my attention to the new couple. Adam was leaned back against the flag pole with Sid in front of him and his arms around her waist.
“You really do,” Adam told me.
“Thank you,” I said back to him.
“We all need to be in the cafeteria today though. We have to go over what we’re going to do for our Carnival booth,” Amber said.
“I actually thought about that last night and came up with an idea,” Aidan said from beside me.
“Really,” I asked him.
