"Home Sweet Home"
Kayla’s POV:
I walked ahead of Aidan all the way up to the door. When we made it to the door though I turned to look up at him before I opened the door. He looked so serious that I reached out and grabbed his hand before I went in. I saw him look down at me as I pulled him through the door. The first thing I saw was my dad coming down the stairs with a big smile on his face. I dropped Aidan’s hand as my dad picked me up and spun me around.
“I missed you so much little girl,” he said as he pulled back to look at me.
“I missed you too Dad. It’s good to be home,” I said as he put me back on the floor.
“Did you have a good trip?”
“Yeah. It was really fun. I loved the beach.”
“Good,” he said as he finally glanced over my shoulder at Aidan. “You bring someone back with you?”
“Oh. Yeah. Me and Aidan have to work on our packet for Mrs. Griff. We didn’t work on it at all during the break and we have our session on Tuesday.”
“Ahh. Well I have to go out and get something to cook for your welcome home dinner. Hunter’s not home yet but he should be soon. I won’t be to terribly long. I hope,” he said as he left.
As soon as he left I reached back out for Aidan’s hand so that I could drag him over to the couch. He sat down and I went into the kitchen to grab us something to drink. I searched the fridge until I found two Cokes and walked back into the living room. I plopped myself down beside him and handed him one of the Cokes before grabbing the remote and turning it to the music channel.
“I forgot my bag in your truck,” I said to him after I sat down.
“I’ll go get it,” he said as he tried to stand.
“No. I will. Is it unlocked?”
“Yeah.”
“Ok. Well I’ll be right back then,” I said as I walked out the door and to his truck. I opened the back door on the passenger side and pulled out my bags. It was hard to try and grab all three of my bags. When I finally got it and turned around I saw Aidan standing in the doorway watching me.
“What,” I asked.
“You want some help,” he asked me with a smirk on his face.
“I wouldn’t oppose to it,” I said back sarcastically.
He walked over to me and took the two bigger bags. I walked out in front of him and told him to throw the bags down at the base of the stairs. He put them down and we walked back to the couch. We sat down and I pulled the table right up to us so that I could spread our papers out in front of us.
I don’t know how long we were sitting there but then I heard the front door open and my brother’s voice call out for Dad.
“He’s not here. He went to the store but I’m in the living room,” I called back out to him.
“Your home,” I heard him yell right before I was scoped off the couch.
