"Unexpected Guest"
I woke up on Friday morning and slowly climbed out of the bed. I was feeling a little groggy today for some reason. I drug myself to the bathroom and climbed into the shower. When I was done I climbed out and went to work blow drying my hair. It took me twenty minutes until I was finally done. I wrapped the towel around my body tight before I walked down the hall to my room.
I quickly changed into some shorts and a t-shirt before throwing my hair up into a bun and walking down the stairs. I walked into the kitchen and grabbed a muffin off the counter. Then I made my way into the living room and laid down on the couch. I grabbed the remote off of the table and started flipping through my recorded shows. I had a bunch of Paranormal Witness so I turned it on and started eating.
I hadn’t been watching my show for more than ten minutes when the doorbell rang. Thinking that it was Aidan, I put down my muffin and paused my show before jumping up and running to the door. I threw the door open and stopped dead in my tracks.
I saw his brown and blonde hair had grown a little longer and now he flipped it to the side. His brown eyes had lightened and now looked like a golden color. He still had a few of his freckles and his mouth was turned up on one side. I looked down and saw that he was wearing a blue shirt that had a skateboarding logo on it. His jeans were dark and had a few rips in the knees.
“Dustin,” I whispered as I looked back into his eyes.
“Hey Kayla,” he said quietly as he smiled a little more. Before I could think I launched myself into his arms. He still felt the same. Maybe he was a little taller and a little more buff but he felt just the same.
“What are you doing here,” I said as I pulled back. I didn’t completely let go of him though.
“My family’s in town for a couple of months. I just wanted to see you. I hope it’s not a bad time,” he said uncertainly.
“No! It’s a perfect time,” I said happily. “Come on in.”
He walked in and looked around for a minute. Then he got a small smile on his face and turned back to look at me.
“This place hasn’t changed.”
“Not much,” I said with a smile as I walked to the living room and sat down. He sat down beside me and looked down at me.
“It’s good to see you,” he said quietly.
“It’s good to see you to. You said you’re in town for a couple of months. How long is a couple of months?”
“Four and a half. Why?”
“Do you think your parents would mind if I stole you away for two and a half of those months,” I asked spontaneously. I really wanted him to go to the beach house.
“I don’t think they would. Why,” he asked looking at me like I was losing my mind.
“Do you want to come with us down to the beach house,” I asked hopefully. He looked at me for a minute with a blank expression before his face broke out in a large smile.
