                                                        "Skip Day"

I woke up early on Sunday morning. I tried to go back to sleep but I couldn’t seem to do it. With a sigh I threw back the blankets and made my way downstairs. I walked into the kitchen and grabbed a pop tart. I walked back into the living room and sat down to watch some cartoons.

After thirty minutes I was really bored. I laid my head back and then got a great idea. Aidan was always showing up at my house unexpectedly so I could go to his house! I ran upstairs to my room and threw open my closet. After grabbing some white and green plaid shorts and a plain green tank top, I quickly went to the bathroom and brushed my hair out. I decided to just leave it down. I went to my room and grabbed my bag. Then I went downstairs and went to my fathers’ office.  After a knock he called out for me to come in. I opened the door and stepped inside.

“Hey daddy,” I said sweetly as I batted my eyelashes.

“What do you want,” he said as he looked up at me with narrowed eyes.

“Can I use my baby,” I asked. If you’re wondering what my baby is, it’s my car. I did have my license and I do have a car. I just wasn’t allowed to use it.

            “Why?”

“I’m bored and I want to go see Aidan. I promise I’ll be careful.”

“I don’t know,” he said as he shook his head.

“Please dad. I drove Hunter’s truck a while back and did great,” I begged.

“I suppose that’s true. Just be careful,” he said as he opened his desk drawer and took out my keys. “If you hurt yourself or the car you’ll be grounded until you’re thirty.”

“I’ll be super careful,” I said as I eagerly grabbed the keys. I hugged my dad tight and ran out of the room. I quickly made my way to the garage and opened it. When I saw my baby I squealed and ran over to hug it. It was a neon green, 2011 Dodge Charger.  I jumped in and took a deep breath.

I cranked it up and fiddled with the radio station. When I got it right I hit the button to open the garage and pulled out. I closed the garage back before driving away. I drove as carefully as I could all the way to Aidan’s house. When I pulled into his driveway I jumped out and went to the door. I knocked on the door and then stepped back. After a few minutes Mrs. Riley opened the door with the baby on her hip. When she saw it was me she smiled.

“Hello Kayla. What are you doing here,” she asked.

“I came to surprise Aidan,” I said back.

            “Well he’s asleep.”

“Not for long,” I said with a wicked grin. She looked at me for a minute before smiling and moving back. I quickly walked in and went up the stairs. When I made it to his room I walked in as quietly as I could. He was lying face down on the bed with his leg thrown over the side. The blankets were all bunched up around his feet. He was only wearing a pair of superman boxers. I tip toed over and jumped onto his bed. He grunted but didn’t wake up. I got down on my hands and knees and put my mouth beside his ear.

“Wake up,” I whispered. He still didn’t wake up. He just turned over to where his face was close to mine. Without thinking I leaned over and put my mouth on his. I felt his arm go across me and I pulled back. I heard him whisper my name and my heart soared. I put my hand on his face for a minute before leaning in and kissing him again. This time when I pulled back his eyes were open and looking at me.
