"The Barbeque"
When I woke up on Saturday morning I was excited. I took my shower quickly and blow-dried my hair. Then I walked into my room and opened my closet. I took out my strapless white sun dress. I had bought it for the beach trip but I never did wear a dress the whole time we were there. I put it on along with my white wedge heels. Then I walked back into my bathroom and brushed my hair out. I decided to leave it down. Then I put on some pale gold eye shadow, eyeliner, mascara, and pale pink lip gloss. When I was done I looked in the mirror and decided that I looked pretty good.
I grabbed my phone and my white bag before making my way downstairs. I walked into the kitchen and saw my dad and brother sitting at the table eating breakfast.
“Don’t you look pretty this morning,” my dad said when he looked up at me.
“Thanks dad,” I said as I walked over to the refrigerator to grab a coke.
“What time is Aidan getting here,” Dad asked.
“In just a few minutes probably. We're all going early so that we can hang out for awhile before the food's done.”
“Thant’s nice.”
“I guess. It will also give me a little time to talk to his family without everyone there.”
“That’s true,” he said with a smile. Then the doorbell rang and before I could stand up my dad took off towards the door. I heard him greet Aidan and invite him in for a minute. After a second my dad and Aidan walked into the kitchen. I got up and went over to hug him.
“You look great,” he told me after he pulled me back and looked me over.
“Thank you. You do too,” I said. He really did. He was wearing dark washed jeans that surprisingly had no holes in them and a light blue button up shirt. It was a nice surprise.
“You guys come sit down,” my dad said from behind us. We walked over to the table and he sat down in the chair beside mine. “So how have you been Aidan?”
“I’ve been pretty good,” he said back to my dad with a smile.
“That’s good. So how long is this barbeque going to last?”
“I really don’t know sir. It’s supposed to start at eleven and I guess it will end when everyone leaves.”
“That’s the best way to do it.”
“You can come if you want. My mom and dad would love to meet you. You to Hunter,” he said with a smile towards my brother.
“That sounds great. You wouldn’t mind would you Kayla,” dad asked me.
“No. Why would I,” I asked genuinely confused.
“Just making sure you wouldn’t be embarrassed by me with all your friends around.”
“I’m never embarrassed by you dad. Are you coming Hunter?”
“Sure. Nothing better to do,” he said looking at me.
