Lincoln
"What are you doing?" I walk into Daxia's room, where she is currently on the floor, doing push-ups.
She's wearing gray sweatpants that she got from who knows where, and a red sports bra. She's also acquired some new running shoes. As I walk more into the room, I see that she is also wearing both wrist weights and ankle weights. She lifts her head and peers up at me, mid plank.
"Baking cookies. What the hell does it look like I'm doing?" she looks back down and finishes up the last push up before sitting back with her legs folded beneath her.
"Okay, well why are you doing it?" I ask.
She turns around and lays on her back, then she begins doing sit ups. I watch as she counts under her breath after each one.
"Because I'm weak, that's why." She says.
I walk over and sit on one of the beds so that I'm in front of her and I can see her face. She avoids my eyes.
"You're not weak," I say.
"Seventeen, eighteen, nineteen," She whispers.
I watch as she finishes up and then turns back around and gets into plant position.
"Thirty, twenty-nine, twenty-eight," She counts.
I walk over and place my shoe on her back, pushing down a bit.
"What the hell are you doing?" She snaps.
"Helping you out a bit," I say. I add more weight to my foot.
"Lincoln, stop." She says. I can't see her face but I can tell her teeth are clenched by the way her voice sounds.
"Twenty, nineteen, eighteen, seventeen," I count, nonchalantly.
I watch as her arms shake a bit but I don't remove my foot.
"Ten, nine, eight, seven," I slow down the counting a bit and I Daxia clench her fists.
"Three, two.....one," I remove my foot and she collapses onto the floor.
"You're such a dick," She says.
I walk a few feet away from her, but then quickly turn around and grab her arm, mid swing, right before it collides with my face. She tries to yank her arm away but I tighten my grip.
"You're a lousy fighter, you let your emotions get in the way. You fight with rage instead of skill," I grab her other arm just as she tries to use it to punch me in the stomach.
"It makes you predictable," I whisper, my face now inches from hers.
I look into her gray-green eyes, she's breathing hard. Suddenly, she leans forward until her lips are on mine. I pause for a few seconds, but then I kiss her back, letting her arms fall, and putting a hand on either side of her face. Then, my feet are knocked out from under me, and my face is pushed into the floor. Daxia pins my arms behind my back, and her knee holds me down.
"Who's letting their emotions get in the way now?" she whispers in my ear.
I don't respond, and after a few seconds she gets up, letting go of me. I roll over onto my back and look up at her, as she smirks at me. Then I push myself up and pin her to the wall, one hand around her throat, and one holding her arms in place above her head. I lean in closer to her face.
"Still you," I reply.
She huffs and struggles against my grip. I let her go.
"I'm starting to remember why I stopped letting you train me, you're a dick." She says.
