Ivy's POV
I woke up to a silent house and an empty bed. Slowly sitting up, I took in my surroundings, wondering why it was so quiet. Ever since Athena and Greyson started crawling and pulling themselves up, there was never a quiet morning. I threw the covers off and padded quietly out of the room and to the nursery to find it completely empty.
Widening my eyes, I ran downstairs, to find it just as silent and empty as upstairs. I was alone. Walking back upstairs, I grabbed my phone, seeing a text from Avi.
Relax. The kids are with my parents. Get dressed in something nice and meet me at the diner down the road at noon.
I stared at the message curiously, wondering what he was doing. I shook my head a bit and checked the time. I had a couple hours, so I decided to shower and make an attempt to look presentable. Once I got out, I got dressed and began doing my hair and makeup. I decided to leave it down and just curl the ends, and I kept my makeup natural. It was a diner, not a fancy restaurant.
I personally liked the diner the wanted to meet at. The food was great and occasionally, they had live performances. It was really cozy feeling and the place Avi and I found ourselves going back to when we didn't feel like cooking. I made sure I had everything and walked out, deciding to make the short walk rather than waste gas.
Once I arrived, I walked in, taking in the familiar smells of coffee and meat. My eyes were drawn to a table of four guys that creeped me out a bit. They all had on the same hats and just looked too stoic to be normal. "Glad to see you're not late."
I looked up and smiled as I saw Avi standing up from a nearby booth. Walking over, I didn't hesitate to give him a hug, though he seemed nervous, like he was hiding something. "Don't scare me like that again," I said, trying to keep a straight face as I took a seat across from him.
I didn't expect anything else from his outfit of choice, which consisted of black skinny jeans and a white button up shirt, but his leather jacket made him look a bit more casual. Casual enough to dawn a black beanie. "I figured I could take you out to lunch," he said with a wide smile.
"I came here alone," I reminded him, laughing a bit as I looked over the menu.
"But I met you here, and I'm buying," he added, going as far as to send me a wink. "I though why not just have a day to ourselves. We've been so busy with the kids that we haven't hardly had time for us. Besides, my mom wanted them for a while, so I told her they could stay the night."
I gave him a skeptical look before reluctantly nodding.
"I know. You don't want them out of your sight, but you can't say that the lack of crying isn't appealing," he added, reaching over and grabbing my hand. "I was thinking lunch now, then we could go sight seeing, maybe the movies and some ice cream or something. And maybe after the beach clears out, we could go chill out for a while."
I thought about it carefully, a slight smile coming to my face. "Sounds perfect," I said, taking notice of him glancing behind me. I turned to see him watching the four people that had creeped me out earlier. "Who are they?"
"No one you need to worry about," he said with a genuine smile that made me relax a bit. I managed to stay relaxed the entire time we were there, enjoying my food and the alone time with Avi. I began gathering up my things after he paid, only to feel a hand on my shoulder. "Wait here. I'll be right back," he said and got up, walking away.
I let out a sigh and set my stuff down, pulling out my phone and staring at it as I began playing a game. The only sound that pulled me out of my world was the sound of a guitar. I looked up and glanced around, a hand covering my mouth to hide a laugh as I saw Avi sitting on one of the stools, watching me carefully as he played.
"Forever can never be long enough for me
Feel like I've had long enough with you
Forget the world now we won't let them see
But there's one thing left to do
Now that the weight has lifted
Love has surely shifted my wayMarry me
Today and everyday
Marry me
If I ever get the nerve to say hello in this cafe
Say you will, mmm
Say you will, mmmTogether can never be close enough for me
Feel like I am close enough to you
You wear white and I'll wear out the words
I love you
And you're beautiful
Now that the wait is over
And love has finally showed her my wayMarry me
Today and everyday
Marry me
If I ever get the nerve to say hello in this cafe
Say you will, mmm
Say you will, mmmPromise me, you'll always be
Happy by my side
I promise to sing to you
When all the music diesAnd marry me
Today and everyday
Marry me
If I ever get the nerve to say hello in this cafe
Say you will, mmm
Say you will, mmm
Marry me, mmm"I watched in complete silence, trying my best not to let the tears fall as I glanced away from Avi to find Scott playing the piano. Instinctively, looked back to the table to find Kevin, Kirstie and Mitch watching me carefully. No wonder they creeped me out.
I turned my gaze back, only this time, Avi wasn't in the same place. He was in front of me, down on one knee with a small box in his hand, opened to show a beautiful diamond ring. I found myself trying to catch my breath as I began shaking slightly, the tears starting to flow freely.
"Say something before I make you!" I laughed slightly at Mitch's outburst and immediately began nodding my head quickly as I felt a pair of arms wrap around me. I stood up, but he didn't pull away just yet. Instead, he held me against him, the sounds of clapping and cheers getting muffled by his body.
"Glad you trusted me to go out by myself this time," he whispered in my ear, causing me to laugh slightly. I looked down at he pulled my promise ring off and replaced it with the new one. He pocketed it, but it didn't stay there for more than a few seconds.
I reached into his pocket and pulled it out, sliding it on my right hand. "I still like it," I said with a small laugh. "Now about those plans you promised me." I raised an eyebrow just as the others walked over.
"You are something else," Scott said, pulling me into a hug.
I gladly returned it before moving to Kevin. "How long have you guys been planning this?" I asked, glancing at Avi.
"Let's see, the kids are eight months old, we started..." he trailed off before smiling shyly. "Not quite a year."
"It took you this long?"
"Hey, searching for a ring with Mr. Picky over there isn't easy," Kirstie said, pointing over at the bearded man.
"It had to be perfect and I wasn't settling," he said defensively. I returned to his side and smiled a bit, leaning up and kissing him gently. "Don't worry. It is," I said with a smile. "Everything is perfect."
A/N: So I've been binge watching cute proposals on Youtube haha
