Why Don't We Just Dance

Ivy's POV

A slight shift next to me pulled my attention from the tv, though I returned my gaze when I realized the arm around me had only tightened slightly. I leaned my head over onto Avi's shoulder as we watched tv silently. Greyson and Athena were playing in their playpen, the occasional laugh breaking the near silence.

Avi let out a sigh next to me as he shifted once more. We had decided to watch tv while I waited on my dress appointment, but it was clear he was already bored. His arm disappeared from around me and I looked over, only to find him looking around. Without a word, he got up, patting the arm of the couch. "Help me move this."

I looked at him with furrowed brows before standing up and going to the other side. I helped him move the couch against the wall and watched as he dragged the coffee table to the opposite wall. "What are you doing?" I asked as he kept moving furniture.

Instead of answering me, he moved to the stereo and plugged his phone up, searching for something. I head the sounds of Prince's Kiss blare out of the speakers as he walked back over to me, taking my hand and spinning me around. "Dance with me," he said, pulling me to him and wrapping his arm around me.

I laughed a bit as I swayed along with him. "Where did this come from?" I asked, reaching over and grabbing the remote off the table and turning the tv off.

"I got bored and I want to dance," he said as he leaned down, his arm around my midsection supporting me as I dipped down.

"Well this is new for you," I said as he lifted me back up and we continued dancing.

"I like to keep things interesting in as many aspects as possible," he said, effectively winking at me as I spun around. I opened my mouth to reply, but the knock on the door stopped us dead in our tracks. "It's unlocked!" he called, starting to sway back and forth again.

I looked back to see Esther, Kirstie and Mitch and Scott walk in, Mitch with his eyes partially covered. "It's safe," Avi said with a deep chuckle, Mitch slowly uncovering his eyes.

"Just making sure. Sorry to interrupt your fun, but we need to go so you're not late," he said with a small smile.

I reluctantly pulled out of Avi's grip and kissed him quickly. "Don't forget what I said about the budget," he said with a wide smile. I silently rolled my eyes as I grabbed my bag.

"You sure you're gonna be okay with the kids?"

"Trust me. We'll be fine," he said. I smiled and walked over to the pen, bending over and picking Greyson up.

"Promise you'll be a good boy?" I asked, lifting him up into the air and smiling as he began laughing happily. "I guess so," I said happily. Carefully setting him down, I picked up Athena and smiled softy as I kissed her cheeks with a smile. "I'll be back soon baby girl," I told her as I sat her down just as I felt a hand grab my arm.

"Come on Mama," Scott said, pulling me out of the house. I barely had time to climb into the SUV before Mitch began firing off questions at me.

"What kind of fit were you wanting? How long do you want your train if you want one? What color? Any accents? What kind of neckline? Sleeves or no sleeves? What kind of material? How extravaga-"

"Mitch! Let her breathe," Esther said, reaching over and covering his mouth.

I laughed a bit and shrugged. "I don't now to any of your questions. I guess I'll just know it when I see it," I told him, glancing towards the front to Scott and Kirstie. I kept quiet the rest of the way there, climbing out and taking a moment to stretch my legs when we stopped.

"Chop chop," Kirstie said, grabbing my hand and pulling me along, causing me to laugh a bit as we walked in. "We have an appointment for Ivy Summers," she said with a smile once we arrived at the desk.

After a few moments, the woman smiled and motioned to a few seats. "Just make yourself comfortable and your consultant will be with you shortly." I smiled and sat down, playfully leaning against Mitch.

"There she is!" I turned towards the commotion, surprised to see Shelley standing there. I stood up quickly and smiled widely as I hugged her, though I was a bit confused as to why she was there.

"I hope you don't mind, but I invited my mom," Esther said with a nervous smile.

I quickly shook my head, my own smile growing. "Not at all. I mean, you've been there through so much already so it's only fitting you're here now," I told her as I returned to my seat.

"Sorry about your wait. I'm Tasha, I'll be your consultant. Now which one of you is the blushing bride?" I looked up at the caramel toned woman and smiled widely, holding my hand out for her to shake.

"That would be me," I said, unaware of my cheeks turning a light pinkish color.

"So good to meet you and congratulations! Who do we have here today?"

"I've got my three best friends, Kirstie, Scott and Mitch and that is my future sister-in-law Esther and my future mother-in-law Shelley," I said, motioning to each one as I listed them off.

"Nice to meet you all. Okay, is there something you are adamant about having for your dress?"

I shook my head and shrugged. "I know a lot of times brides want something but when they try it on, it doesn't flatter them so I learned not to be specific. I'll know it when I see it. The only thing I know is I don't want anything too big and puffy," I said happily.

"And your budget?"

"Well, I was think-"

"Before she continues," Mitch intervened. I swear to God. "The groom was nice enough to not limit the budget."

"Just nothing too crazy. I don't want to spend fifty grand on a dress," I said with a light smile as Tasha laughed a bit. "When you have to handle twins, you can't help but worry about money."

"Oh you have twins?" she asked, clearly surprised.

"I do. A boy and a girl. They will be a year old December 18th," I said with a smile.

"No wonder money is on your mind."

"It shouldn't be," Scott spoke, poking his nose in the conversation. "When your fiance is a international a Capella superstar and makes a lot of it, you don't need to worry about it."

I put my head in my hands as I let out a sigh, hearing Tasha start laughing again. "I thought the three of you looked familiar. I didn't want to say anything in case I was wrong."

"This is what I deal with on a daily basis," I said as I looked up at her.

"Well why don't we see about getting you that perfect dress." We stood up and followed her to the back, the other five having a seat. She handed me a light pink silk robe and ushered me into a small room. "I'll be right back with some choices for you to try on," she said with a smile.

Once the door was closed, I quickly discarded my dress and shoes and shrugged the robe on, waiting patiently for Tasha to return. It didn't take long for her to walk in, carrying several dresses of different sizes and styles. She pulled the first one off the hanger and began helping me into it, thus beginning the longest process I've ever been though.
