Love Wins~Kris Bryant

Chapter 2

FEBRUARY 3RD, 2017 

Skylar's POV 

I flew into Arizona yesterday and most of the day was spent unpacking and making everything in my house look like my home and then grocery shopping. Kris had told me he was coming down today and my nerves sky rocketed. 

I couldn't believe we were going to see each other again. It's been eight years since I last saw him and we've both grown up, a lot. I told him I flew into Arizona yesterday and we were going out to dinner tonight. 

I still have yet to tell him I'm the Athletic trainer for the Cubs and that I broke up with Matthew, but I'll tell him that at dinner tonight. I had to go to the stadium today for a tour and to meet with the coaches and bosses. 

I got up around 8 and changed into a Cubs shirt and some Nike Pro capri's and threw my hair into a pony tail. I put on some black Nike's and grabbed my bag and then went out to my car and went over to the stadium.

I got there in like 5 minutes, so I know now that I don't have to be up early in the morning. I went into the clubhouse and Joe and some of the other staff was there waiting for me. We introduced ourselves and then they showed me the fields and the athletic rooms, the cafeteria and the locker room. 

"Now do you have any questions?" I thought. "When do I actually start the job and working with the players?" I asked. "When they all arrive and workouts start, so you're free till then."Joe said and I smiled. 

"You have a housemate, do you know who he is?" Joe asked as we were walking towards the parking lot. I shook my head. "I thought I was alone, but do you know who it is?" I asked and he shook his head yes. "It's Kris Bryant." 

My eyes went wide, holy shit. I can't believe this is real life. "Well thanks for the heads up Joe, I'll see you soon." I said as we reached my car and he waved goodbye as he went to his own car. I let out a little scream as my door shut. 

I went off towards home, hoping that Kris wasn't there yet, but when I pulled into the driveway my hopes were crushed but my nerves were in full affect. 

KRIS' POV

I walked into this beautiful big house, it was gorgeous. Now only if I had Sky here with me. They told me I had a housemate this year, but they didn't tell me who it was. I walk into the master bedroom and saw that it was already occupied, well I guess my housemate was already here. 

I went into one of the other bedrooms and started putting my stuff away until I heard the front door open. I stopped what I was doing and looked down in the foyer and saw a girl looking around the house. "Looking for me?" I said and I scared her because she jumped and looked up, holy shit it's Skylar. 

"Sky?' I asked not able to believe my eyes right now. She smiled. "Yeah Kris it's me." She said and I had the biggest smile on my face as I ran down the stairs and picked her up and spun her around. 

"Sky what are you doing here? In my house nonetheless." She laughed as she led me over to the couch where we both sat down, her legs over mine, the usual. "I'm actually working for the Cubs as their athletic trainer." I said. 

"When did you get here? And I can't believe you're working for the Cubs!" I said. "I got here yesterday afternoon. I flew in from Vegas actually." 

"Wait since when were you in Vegas and why didn't you tell me?" I asked. "Since Thanksgiving. I didn't have the heart to tell you when I moved back." She said looking away from me. "What's wrong and why did you move back?" I said scooting closer to her and putting my arms around her. 

She sighed and I looked into those beautiful green eyes that I had fallen in love with, but couldn't tell her that I had. Not this soon anyway. "Matthew cheated on me and that's when I knew I had to move back home. I didn't tell you because I knew you had a girlfriend and she was pretty and I didn't want to ruin anything for the both of you." She said. 

I sighed and gently caressed her cheek. "Sky, you wouldn't have ruined anything. She was just in it for the money and I broke up with her. I never told you because I thought you were still with Matthew and I didn't want my dreams to get crushed." 

So maybe I did love her and wanted to be with her, I just didn't think she was single. "So does this mean we're still going out to dinner?" I asked and she laughed, "Yes Kris, we're still going out to dinner. Let me go shower and get ready and then we'll leave okay?" She said as she stood up. 

"Sounds like a plan." I said as I watched her walk up the stairs. God damn she's beautiful and I can't wait to make her mine, again. 

SKYLAR'S POV 

I stepped into the shower and the tears came. I couldn't believe that Kris was here. I couldn't believe that Matthew had cheated on me still and I brought everything back up to Kris and it was like re-openeing a wound. It sucked. 

But I had to tell Kris everything, he was my best friend, I couldn't hide that from him any longer than I had. I finished up my shower and I didn't know where we were going, so I poked my head out of my door and yelled to Kris. 

"Where are we going to dinner? Casual?" "Yes casual!" He yelled back and I went back into my room and changed. (outfit in media) I left my hair in it's natural state and did minimal makeup. 

I grabbed my phone and purse and went downstairs to find Kris at the bottom of the stairs. "I said casual and you're in a dress." He said with a laugh when he saw me. "Yeah well it's a casual dress, I can go change into a ball gown if you would like?" I said with a laugh. 

"No, you look beautiful, come on, let's go." He said taking me hand and leading me out to his car. I didn't know where we were going, but I sure hoped it was good. Apparently we were going into Phoenix, which I didn't mind. They had really good food in the city and Kris knew where everything was. 

We pulled up to this local restaurant and it smelt amazing. We sat down quickly and ordered right away, Kris ordered for me because he knew exactly what I wanted, like all best friends do.

"So what is this? A date? Or two best friends hanging out, who have feelings for each other?" He asked. Dammit I knew he knew I had feelings for him and that he had feelings for me, which I didn't mind. "Well what do you want it to be?" I said with a smirk. 

 "A date." He said with that gorgeous smile of his. I copied his smiled. "Well a date it is then Bry." I had always called him Bry ever since he started calling me Sky. It was Sky and Bry until I moved across the country. 

The food was amazing and it was just great catching up with Kris again after so many years of not seeing each other face to face. "Do you have a place when we leave to go to Chicago?" He asked as we were driving back to our house. 

"No actually, I don't." I said with a laugh, he was thinking of something and I knew exactly what it was. "Move in with me." He said and I smiled, he liked to move fast, but I didn't mind since we were best friends first. 

"We aren't even dating but that's quite alright, yes I'll move in with you." I said and he smiled and grabbed my hand and intertwined our fingers together. Sparks everywhere, I couldn't believe that I had wasted that many years with someone I didn't even feel a spark with and I could've had Kris the whole time.

"I can't believe I wasted three years of my life with that cheater." I said as we were walking into the house. "I can't believe you didn't tell me." He said as he closed the door. "I know I'm sorry Kris. It was just such a hard time in my life and I didn't open up till I went home for Thanksgiving to my parents. I couldn't tell you and reopen all the wounds that had healed." 

I was starting to walk up the stairs when Kris called my name. I turned around and looked at him. "I love you Sky and not just in a best friends way. I fell in love with you when we were six and even when you had Matthew and I had Jessica, I still loved you and will forever love you." He said and I smiled. 

"Bry, I love you too. Let's take things slow?" I asked and he nodded. "Goodnight Bry." I said to him and he smiled. "Goodnight Sky."
