September 1st, 2018

Well yesterday was the best day of my life, besides when I married Kris of course. "Babe, it's time to get up, you have to feed." Kris said as he softly kissed my forehead and I smiled knowing that we now have our baby girl with us and that we get to watch her grow and become a beautiful young girl, not too fast I hope.

"This is how I want to be woken up every morning, but I know that isn't going to last long." I said with a laugh as I sat up in the hospital bed and stretched. "Yeah, next time it will be a screaming baby and not my soft voice." He said and I couldn't help but laugh.

"Hi baby girl." I said as Kris handed me Ryleigh to feed. "She's so precious." Kris said as he stroked the top of her head and she opened her eyes and looked right at Kris and gave him somewhat of a smile.

"She's going to look just like you. I can already tell she's going to have those eyes that made me fall in love with you." I said looking up at him and he looked down at me and smiled and kissed me.

"You don't know how happy you've made me ever since you came back into my life." He said. "Well technically I never left, we still talked every day when I left Vegas." I said with a laugh and he laughed too.

"Well you know what I mean. I mean this is what we've always dreamed of. Me playing baseball, you being an athletic trainer, us getting married and having kids together." He said. "Not many people actually get to say that they married their high school sweetheart, but I can proudly say I did." I said while looking down at Ryleigh.

"I love you beyond words Sky. I know I tell you that almost every day but I really mean it. You've made me the happiest man in the world." He said and it kind of made me tear up a little bit. I guess the hormones haven't left my body.

"When are your parents coming in?" I asked as I handed him back Ryleigh to burp and put back to sleep. "Today I think, I'm not sure what time." He said as he was burping her. "When do you have to go back?" I asked not wanting him to leave us.

"Joe said when they get back home is when I can go back to playing. He knows how precious this time is and he's giving me it off." He said and relief washed over me because he'll be off for about another week before the Cubs come back home and he has to go to work.

"Remind me to thank Joe when I see him next. I thought you were going to have to go back on the road trip." I said and he smiled at me and then looked down at Ryleigh. "I can't wait to spend this week getting to know my little girl. I want to have that bond with her like normal dads do. It sucks because I'm not home all the time and I don't get to see her grow." He said.

"Kris, when she gets older, we're going to travel with you, I promise you aren't going to miss any big things in her life. I want you to be as involved as you can with your schedule." I said reassuring him that he's not going to be a bad dad for doing his job.

"But I wish I could stay home with her every day like you are." He said. "I'm going to be going back to work Kris, so I won't be home with her everyday. She'll be at the stadium with him. We're going to raise her to be respectful and be a quiet baby." I said and he laughed.

"If she's anything like the both of us, she's not going to be anywhere near quiet." He said and I laughed, he was right, we were the loudest people everyone knew. "I love you Kris, don't doubt yourself when you're away doing your job okay?" I said and he smiled and nodded.

I couldn't believe that this was my life, having a baby with my high school sweetheart and being married to him. I have the best husband and the most perfect daughter. What more could anyone ask for?

A/N: That's all folks! I know it took forever because I kind of lost my mojo since there was no baseball on, but I'm trying to get it back and trying to balance school as well. There will be an epilogue for the final chapter, look out for that. Thanks for coming on the journey of Skylar and Kris, I hope you enjoyed it!
