Chapter 4

FEBRUARY 26TH, 2017 

Skylar's POV

Today was the first official game of Spring Training and the boys couldn't be any more excited to get out and play baseball again. We're losing Javy in the middle of March to go play in the World Baseball Classic for Puerto Rico and he's pumped. 

"Sky come on, we gotta get up. We've got a game to play." Kris said shaking me awake. "Hey next time, don't shake me until I die." I said and he laughed. "I'm sorry, but nothing else was waking you up." He said walking out of my room and going who know where. 

Kris and I have been really good, like really good. He's all you could ever ask for in a boyfriend, even if we've only been dating for two weeks, but it feels like we've been dating for eternity because we've known each other for so long.

I groaned and got up from my comfy bed, I knew I was going to regret doing this job in the long run with all the traveling and long nights. But if I got to be with Kris, then I'm not going to regret it at all.

"SKYLAR COME ON LETS GO, ANTHONY'S HERE WAITING FOR US." Kris yelled up to me, I hadn't even showered yet. "JUST GO WITH ANTHONY AND I'LL MEET YOU THERE." I yelled back to him, he didn't reply and I just heard the door slam. I rolled my eyes, we didn't always have to travel together, but he liked to. 

I hopped in the shower and got ready for the game in my polo and khaki shorts. I sighed and grabbed my bag and got into my car and went over to the complex. "You're late. You're normally with Kris." Joe said as I walked into the office. 

"Hey, I'm not late, he's early and I'm on time." I said with a laugh. "Well you ready for your first full game today?" He asked as we were walking to the field to do warmups. "Yeah I'm excited for it, I've trained for this and I'm ready, the long season though? Not ready for that." 

He laughed. "None of us are, but we'll get through it." He said and then we conducted warmups and I haven't seen Kris since he woke me up this morning which is weird. I went over to Anthony and asked him where he was. 

"Honestly, couldn't tell you because I have no idea." He said and I sighed and made my way back into the clubhouse and I found him sitting in front of his locker looking at his phone. I smiled and went over to him and wrapped my arms around his neck. 

"What do you want?" He said and he sounded mad and I've never seen Kris mad, only once and it wasn't at me. "Bry, what's wrong?" I said moving and sitting in front of him and making him look at me and it looked like he had been crying. 

"Kris, what's going on and why does it look like you've been crying?" I said rubbing his cheek and he leaned his face into my hand. "Why does the internet say you're dating Anthony?" He said and I cocked my head to the side because I was confused. 

"What do you mean?" I said and he sighed and pulled out his phone and showed me the article and I read it and obviously it was fake. I locked his phone and took his face in my hands and pressed my lips to his in a passionate kiss. 

"Do you believe the article now?" I said and he shook his head no right away. "I'll go talk to Anthony okay?" I said. "Well don't get too close now, people will assume." He said and I laughed. "We should tell people that we're dating." I said and he thought about it. 

"Do you think it's too soon?" He asked. "I mean if you want to wait we can, but if you don't want to read anymore articles like that, I think it would be a good idea." I said and he sighed. I kissed him one last time before going back out to the field. 

"Did you find Kris?" Anthony asked coming over to me. "Yeah he's in the clubhouse and he read an article where it said you and me were dating and he wasn't happy. You should put it somewhere that we aren't dating so people don't assume and that Kris doesn't get all sad about it." I said. 

"I will Skylar, lemme go talk to Kris alright?" He said and I nodded and he went off. I finished helping the guys with their warmups before the took BP and I just roamed around the stadium before the game. "Skylar, is that you?" I heard and I whipped my head around and smiled when I saw Kris' brother Nick. 

"Nick? Oh my god!" I said running over to him and giving him a hug. "Does Kris know you're here?" I asked and he shook his head no. "I'm surprising him after the game." He said and I smiled. "Well it's good to know you're here, I'll come get you after the game alright? Then we'll go down to the clubhouse and surprise him." I said. 

"Have you and my brother finally gotten together yet?" He asked and I laughed. "We have, on Valentines Day actually, he's such a sappy one." I said and he laughed. "He always has been when it comes to you. Now go on to your job, I'll see you later." He said and I hugged him before going into the dugout. 

"What's got you all smiley?" Kris asked. "I have a surprise for you after the game." I said and he smiled. "Oh do you now, it better be good." He said and I smirked. "Oh it will be, I promise." 

The guys ended up tying with the Indians 1-1 and I went into the stands to bring Nick down to the clubhouse. "Kris, I have someone here for you." I said and he turned around and his eyes went wide when he saw Nick.

He literally ran over and gave me a hug. "Did you know he was coming?" Kris asked me. "No I didn't, he saw me before the game and told me he was here to surprise you, so surprise!" I said and he hugged me. 

"This is the best surprise ever, I love you Sky." He said kissing me. "I love you too Bry. Are we gonna out ourselves soon?" I asked.

"Go look at Instagram." He said and I pulled out my phone and smiled at the picture he had posted. "Kris_bryant17: Took me 8 years, but finally got the balls to ask you to be mine. (picture in media)"

"And now the world knows you're mine." He said kissing me. I couldn't be happier with Kris.
