We were in L.A. for the last game of the series against the Dodgers and then we're on to San Diego to face the Padres for a three game series and then we're back home for a long home stand and I couldn't wait to get back home with Kris and be in our apartment.
My parent's flew out for this series and it's been amazing to see them again. "So you said Matthew was with the team now?" My mom asked as the two of us were sitting in Starbucks while Kris and my dad were out doing god knows what.
"Yeah and Kris has literally had to beat him up to keep him away from me and it's getting so bad. I'm thinking of when we get back to Chicago I'm going to get a restraining order on him." I said. "Honey, I don't think that's a good idea." She said.
"Why not mom? It'll make the organization realize how bad of a person he's been to me to trade him off to another team and maybe he'll finally leave me alone." I said taking a sip of my drink. "Well I don't think so because he's right behind you." She said and I whipped my head around and sure enough, there he was.
I rolled my eyes as he smirked at me and came closer to me. "Oh Laurie, it's lovely to see you again." He said going over to my mom and giving me a hug. "Matthew, what are you doing here?" I said kind of rudely but I didn't care.
"To see you and your mom. I haven't seen your mom since you moved back to Vegas." I rolled my eyes at his stupidness and trying to get me back. "Skylar don't be rude to him." My mom said. If only she knew what I've been through.
My phone buzzed in my pocket and took it out and saw Kris had texted me. "I'm at the ballpark, where are you?" I looked up and saw that my mom and Matthew were too engrossed in the conversation, so I got up and went outside and called Kris.
"Baby are you okay? Where are you?" He asked as he picked up. "I'm fine. I'm at Starbucks with my mom and Matthew just shows up out of nowhere and chats my mom up like nothing went wrong between the two of us."
"Do you want me to come get you?" He asked. "No, you're already there and you'd get killed if you leave. I'll be fine. I'll text you if things get out of hand." I said. "Alright, just be careful, I don't know what he'll do to you if I'm not there."
"I don't know either, I'll see you soon Kris. I love you." I said. "I love you too." He said before we hung up and I went back inside to see my mom without Matthew. "It was pretty rude of you to leave us." She said.
"Mom I really don't want to hear it. You don't know what I've been through with him." I said as I grabbed my purse. "Then why haven't you told me?" She said as she grabbed her purse as well and following me out of Starbucks.
"Because it's not something that people talk about freely, I've been hurt so bad by that man and now I'm being stalked." I said. "We have the whole ride to the stadium to talk about it, spill." She said as we got into the car and I sighed.
I started with after they left Maryland up until today. "Sweetie, you shove told me a long time ago what happened, I could've helped you." She said as she rubbed my back as we were in the parking lot of the stadium.
"I was so vulnerable that I didn't want to tell anyone, I didn't even tell Kris until I saw him at Spring Training. That's how much I didn't like talking about. When someone gets abused, it's not something they like to talk about every day." I said as I got out of the car and we made our way into the stadium.
"If you ever need anything just let me know, I'll always be there for you sweetie." She said giving me a hug. "I just need you to support my decision if I do end up getting a restraining order on him." I said with a smile.
"Of course I will after learning what he actually did to you." She said as we said our goodbyes and she went into the stands and I went into the training room. "Where have you been all day?" Anthony asked as he sat down at my table.
"Spending some quality time with my mom, although Matthew ruined it." I said and he scoffed. "That guy ruins everything. He's ruining this team by doing this to you and Kris. Kris isn't as happy anymore when he's around. The organization needs to realize he's not an asset to this team. He's making us worse."
"But he isn't even playing." I said as I massaged him. "But everyone knows what he's done to you and we all want to ring his neck out." He said and I laughed. "Well it's good to know that you all have my back." I said.
"Of course, you're like a little sister to the rest of us, you know besides Kris who sees you as a lot more than that." He said. "I know that, he said we're gonna get married one day."
"You two already had that talk?" He asked sitting up as I was finished with him. "Yeah, I really don't see myself with anyone else. He's always been there for me even when I was with Matthew. It's going to be Kris until I die." I said.
"Well aren't you two just a storybook couple." He said and I let out a loud laugh. "We're far from it, but thanks Tony, do great today." I said as he walked out of the training room. "Hey baby." I heard from behind me as I was cleaning up.
"Hey Kris, aren't you supposed to be warming up?" I asked confused as to why he was in here. "Nope, Joe gave me the day off, come chill in the clubhouse with me?" He asked holding out his hand to me and I gladly took it and followed him.
He opened the doors and there were rose petals everywhere and it was just the two of us and he walked me to the middle of the room where he turned to me and smiled and got down on one knee.
"Sky, my love. We've been through a whole lot with our crazy lives and being friends across the country and silently loving you from a distance was tough but when I saw you in Arizona, I knew I needed you to be mine once and for all. No matter how crazy our lives get together, I'll always want you to be by my side. I know it means a lot to you so today, I got your dads blessing to do all this and I got your moms yesterday. So will you do the honor and become my wife, finally?" He asked.
The tears were flowing and I nodded my head and he slipped the ring onto my finger and I heard all the guys cheer behind us as he stood up and kissed me. "I love you Skylar." He said. "I love you too Kris."
