Love Wins~Kris Bryant

Chapter 16

MAY 8TH, 2017 

After an 18 inning game and a flight to Colorado, the guys were pretty much drained to say the least. But thanks to the weather here in Denver, the game has been postponed and the guys are getting a much needed day off. 

"Oh thank god the game has been postponed." Kris said as he flopped on our bed as soon as we got back to our room from the park. I laughed and just joined him on the bed. "You must be drained." I said rubbing his cheek and he turned to me. 

"You have no idea babe. Let's just oder room service and watch movies and sleep all day." He said kissing me. "You've got the right idea. You oder the food and I'll set up Netflix." I said getting off the bed and going into my bag and getting my laptop. 

"Baby, do you think Matthew is going to keep getting in the way of us?" Kris asked as we started the movie and I sighed. "I really think so, I might have to get a restraining order on him." I said, I didn't want to because I'm not that type of person, but if this keeps happening, I'm going to need to. 

"I want you to get one. I can't keep beating him up for you." He said and I let out a laugh. "I love you, but no more beating anyone up. I can't let anyone hurt that pretty face of yours." I said and he looked fake hurt.

"You only think my face is pretty?" He said putting a hand over his heart and I couldn't help but laugh. "No, everything else is pretty and you love me so there." I said sticking my tongue out at him and he just laughed. 

"You're right I do love you, not just cause you're pretty." He said. "Then why do you love me Kris, please enlighten me." I said throwing my hands around in a dramatic way and he laughed. 

"Because you look at life so positive no matter what you've been through. No one knows what you've been through besides your family and close friends. If anyone had just met you, they wouldn't know your past because you carry yourself so well. You would do anything to make anyone happy and that's what I love about you. Your looks are just a bonus to me." He said and I kissed him. 

"You make my world go round my love and I wouldn't want anyone else to be stuck here with me in this hotel room right now."  I said. "Who said we're stuck here, we could go out to dinner or something." He said and I laughed. 

"Have you looked outside?! It's hailing like crazy and we aren't going anywhere." I said. "But babe..." He said. "But babe nothing, I'm not going out in that weather Kristopher." 

"Oh so we're using the Kristopher card now? Alright Skylar." He said crossing his arms over his chest like a little kid and I took a moment to take his appearance in. He was in an old t-shirt and sweatpants and he hadn't shaved in awhile. 

These are the days that I live for with Kris. During the season, we don't get a lot of these days to just sit back and relax all day. During the off days Kris is still working. He goes to children's hospitals and goes to schools and we do charity events. 

He doesn't stop and sometimes, you just need a day like this. "What are you thinking about and why are you staring at me?" He said waving his hands in front of my face and I snapped out of my day dream. 

"Sorry babe. I was just thinking about how you do so much for the Cubs fans that you really don't get a day off like this." I said intertwining my hand with his and he kissed the back of it and put it down. "I know, my life is crazy. I wish it would just slow down for once." 

"I mean if you want it to slow down, just quit baseball." I said with a laugh. "Yeah you're funny." He said. "I know I am. I don't want you to quit baseball, this is your life and I love watching you play." 

"You just like watching my ass in those baseball pants." He said and I smiled. "I meaaaan you aren't wrong." I said and he tickled me and I let out a squeal. "Kris! Stop it!" I said as I kicked and kicked trying to get him to stop. 

"Alright fine, you got me." He said raising his hands in surrender and I laughed. "Oh Kris, what would I do without you?" I asked and I wrapped my arms around him and hugged him with everything that I had. 

"I ask myself that same question every day babe. You've been my rock ever since Spring Training and I couldn't thank you for everything you've done for me this season already and it's only May." I smiled up at him and he took the opportunity to kiss me. 

"I love you so much Skylar, I just wish we could run away and get married and start our life together like we always said we would." He said. "I wish we could too Kris, but our parents would kill us if we did that, plus we're not engaged." I said. 

"I mean, we basically are with the way we act with each other, I just haven't given you a ring yet." He said. "Oh so you're going to give me a ring then?" I asked, we hadn't had this conversation with each other yet, so why not have it now. 

"Of course, I wouldn't be with you if I didn't see myself marrying you in the future, or near future." He said and I smiled. "I'm beyond lucky to have you as my guy. I love you Kris." 

"I'm beyond lucky to have you as my girl. I love you too Skylar." That's how we spent our day, doing couple things while lying in and watching movies.
