Chapter Twenty Seven: What She Didn't Say

I realized what I had just done and jumped out of his arms, backing away from him.

I will not trust him.

He'll only do what Paul did to me.

He was confused, I could tell. I opened the door incase I needed to run out. I'm scared of him. Everything in me wants to yell at him to leave, but part of me wants him to save me.

Chris notices my masquerade mask on the coffee table. His finger traces over the silver and green sparkles, a small smile tugging at his lips.

"You know, my father always said, in this life, it's either you live, or you die. That means that you can live your life to the fullest, filling it with life, or you can go about your day, never living at all, dying."

The blue eyed mystery man had a name. Chris.

I still didn't trust him.

"You need to leave." I meant it to sound like a growl, but instead came out in a whimper.

Chris looked defeated but respected my wishes. He placed the mask back on the coffee table and before he headed out, he grabbed my wrists. I started to panic.

"Stay. Stay here. The world needs you." And then after saying that, he let go and left.

I closed the door behind him and locked it.

I want to go to sleep and never wake up, or better yet, wake up with Amy by my side.

As I crawled into the covers of my bed, I pushed all thoughts of what had happened here out of my head.

What Amy didn't say, was how I was going to get better after losing her.

And also what she didn't say, was that I was going to lose her.

She promised that she'd be here always.

She promised.
