Come on Lizzy let's go look around, I don't wanna stay cooped up in this dreary old house any longer!" My sister yelled at me from across the house.

We had just mover from Oakland, CA and Tulsa is definitely different. There was still gangs and territories back home but it was definitely different. Back home people would have all our brawls for some rude comment. Here they don't overreact so much I've learned, by it's still stupid.  The only thing good about Oakland was the baseball team.

"Sure. I think there's a gas station a few miles down the road, and I ate the last of my gum. Can we go there?"

"You wanna go to a gas station? Sure thing weirdo." She grinned an ruffled my blonde hair. I fake glared at her and fixed my hair. Since I'm 14 I obviously can't drive but she's 17 so she could.

"Good thing you wanted to come here l, tanks almost empty. Here pay for it while your in there."

"You mean, like actually be social? I have to talk to someone? No thanks. Why don't you come in and do it?" (this is sooo me)

"You gotta get over this shyness thing, you're starting school in a couple days."

"Don't remind me." I mutter.

"What was that?"

"Nothing." She got out of the car and followed me in.

"I need some gas on pump 2 please." There was an attractive boy at the cash register. Though there was an even cute boy next to him. They both looked a little older than me but not by much.

"That all?" He said politely.

"A pack of bubblegum please."

"Sure thing. Pone, get the gum would you?"

"Yah." He ducked down behind the corner and popped back up with a package of pink bubble gum.

"Thanks."

"No problem.  Hey I like your shirt, you like the Great Gatsby?"

"I love it, it's one of my favorites."

"That's pretty cool. Don't get a lot of people around here that like classics."

"Weird. I'm new in town, I just moved from Oakland a few days ago.

"Nice. How've you been liking Tulsa so far?"

"It's fine. There were gangs and stuff back home so that's nothin new. If anything here's a lot more civilized."

"I'm sorry, what's your name?"

"Lizzy. And you are?"

"Ponyboy." He looked embarrassed but I thought I was cute.

"I like it. It's unique."

"Thanks. Have you been around town yet?"

"No, I haven't had anyone to show me around. I haven't made it further from the high school. I live in the neighborhood a couple miles from here."

"That's not very far. You haven't seen the library yet then!"

"No I haven't gotten to. I want to do badly though, I have a big list at home of books I want to read."

"That sounds pretty handy. I always forget the books I want to read, that's smart. Maybe I could show you around sometime?"

"I'd love that."

"Hang on, you said you haven't gone further than the high school?"

"Yah..."

"Which high school?"

"Will Rodgers. You?"

"Will Rodgers. What grade are you in?"

"I'm a freshman but I was bumped up a grade in Jr.
High."

"Really? This is going to sound crazy but I was to."

"That's really cool."

"So how's after school on Monday work for you? I can meet you by the track fields."

"Sounds got to me."

"I'll see you Monday then. I should probably get going before my sister gets worried. Later Ponyboy."

"Later Lizzy."

In so excited! Pony seems like a great guy. I'm so glad I met him.
