Ponyboy POV
She doesn't look as pale as before but I really wish she would wake up. We've been here all night but Darry, Soda and Steve had to leave to get ready for work. Two-Bit came back but not Dally. Steve's girl came up last night. Her and Rose are so close it's like they're conjoined at the hip. I don't know when they started hanging out, but I think it was before Steve and Evie started dating.
Rose POV
I'm so tired of not being able to see anything, talk, or know anything. I can hear muffled sounds but nothing that I can make out. I've tried to open my eyes, but no luck so far. I'm so tired of this! I don't even remember what happened. Maybe someone will tell me once I can open my I really have to open my eyes before I go insane from not knowing anything.
No ones POV
Everyone was gloomy. But as Rose's eyes started to flutter, no one noticed. She finally got them open with a pained expression in them. She tried to move and made a little sound. Two-Bit was so happy he forgot she was hurt and jumped at her. Luckily, Evie was fast enough to hold him back. Rose didn't know why she was in a hospital and was very confused.
Evie's POV
She's awake! Finally. It hurts so much to see her like this but I bet it is nothing to what she's feeling.
"Where am I? What's going on?"
She seemed so small and helpless when she asked that. She's just as tuff as the rest of us and is a pretty good person to have on your side during a fight, but everyone let's their guard down once and a while. Even if they don't want to, it's just to hard to avoid.
"Your in the hospital Rose. Don't you remember? You got jumped." Ponyboy answered. He's been quieter than usual lately. I wonder...
"I was?"
"No, hit your head on a door frame and got knocked out." Two-Bit stated with sarcasm. If he was trying to cheer her up, he was doing a good job at it. He got her to smile! Well, sorta. It kinda came out as more of a grimace. Once you've been beat up as bad as she was it's rare to see someone at least trying to smile.
"How long have I been out of it?"
"You passed out after you were stabbed." I answered.
"Stabbed? I don't remember being stabbed."
What? What does she mean she doesn't remember.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean, I don't remember being stabbed. I don't remember being jumped, all I know is I can't wait to get out of here."
"The first thing you do when you wake up is ask to get out. Sounds exactly like something you would do."
"It isn't something I would do, it's something I did do." She replied in a know-it-all sort of tone.
"I'll go get a doctor to see how long until you can get out." I said with a smile.
Two-Bit's POV
"Well it's about time you woke up! Were you TRYING to worry us?" I knew she didn't have much control over it but she's my little sis, I have to tease her!
"Yah, I was. You deserve it after all." She shot back at me.
"What did I do this time?" I know there's gotta be something I did but that doesn't mean I can't deny I ever did it.
"Hmm, let me think, there was that one time, when i was walking by the school and someone was on the other side of the road, and all they did was look at me, and you tried to flatten them! Oh! And there was that one time when you scared us like crazy and just disappeared for about a week. And then, who could forget when you got drunk in class and puked in my locker, and then Pony's backpack the whole way home? Which you still owe him some new books by the way, and you tried to make out with Miss Bainker, you were so drunk. So I'd say you deserve all the worrying." She said, a little out of breath.
"Well, you can't deny, that I am what makes life fun!!!" I yelled ecstatically. That's a fun word, ecstatically. E-c-s-t-a-c-i-c-a-l-l-y.
Pony and Johnny were just watching us with amused looks on their faces. Just then, Evie came back with a Doctor.
"It's good to see you awake! How are you feeling?"she asked in an annoyingly cheerful way. She was a looker though, but not really my type.
"I'm sore and achey but other than that I feel fine."
"Well let me check up on everything and I'll see when you can go home!" She started pressing buttons, writing on her little clipboard, and did some other stuff.
"Well if you want to you can go home!" And further away from your annoying voice.
"Trust me, I do." That made everyone laugh. How does she make everyone laugh? It's supposed to be my thing! I guess it just runs in the family.
Ponyboy POV
She's ok! And she can go home. I'll ask her out then. I can do this.
"Well just let me close up some things and take out these tubes and then you can go check out!" Finally. We all left so she could change (Evie brought some extra clothes with her) and then we went to check her out.
"Rose Mathews." She said politely. The lady at the desk handed her a clipboard to sign and we walked out. Too bad it's never that easy.
