Chapter 16: Runaway
I closed my eyes and I could hear Cole's breathing was heavily. I felt so guilty for believing he wouldn't find out in the end. I felt a tap on my shoulder and opened my eyes slowly only to see a smirking Cole in front of me.
I felt confused. I looked at Dad, but he shrugged his shoulder. I could see the glint in his eyes that was there, he knew why he was smirking at me. I crossed my arms and waited for Cole to say something that could explain what he was doing to me.
"I knew," he said. That was all, nothing else, not even a little speech of how I lied to him about where I lived. I stared at him with my eyes wide open and my mouth was slightly open too.
"What?" I couldn't say something else, I was in shock. He smirked and walked closer to me and since I was still in shock, I couldn't move.
"I knew it from the day you moved here," he whispered into my ear. I shivered and looked at my feet; that was suddenly very interesting. He took my hand and enfolded me into a hug. It didn't feel so good to be in his arms again. Even if we were in each other arms not so long ago.
Suddenly tears leaked from my eyes and I cried into Cole's shoulder. He rubbed my back.
"I'm so sorry," I cried. He was still rubbing my back, but it felt lesser and lesser comforting. His arms ware no longer warm and soon no longer around me and I saw that he stood with a smirk on his face not bothering comforting me anymore.
"You shall never lie to your mate, never," he said with an awful scary voice. He then went out of the room, leaving me alone with Dad. I turned to him and saw that he was just as shocked as I. I stood like this in half an hour and not doing anything, not feeling anything.
I could still feel his arms around me, and then ran out of the room and to where I could find trust. I went to Rita's room; I knew I could count on her. I opened the door and the sight was heartbreaking. Cole was naked on top of a naked Rita, she moaned while he groaned. They hadn't seen me yet or even smelled I was in the same room.
Was this really the Cole I almost fell in love with. Tears were once again streaming down my face.
"How could you?" I screamed at them. Rita turned and her face was in utter shock. You wouldn't think I would find out, huh. Cole was just smirking while he turned still over Rita.
"I trusted you, Rita! You even had a mate!" I cried before running out. She was my first friend here and my best. How could she hurt me like that? I could only think of one place where I could really let my thoughts out. I ran out of the house and into the woods. On the way into the forest I shifted into my white wolf. Not caring if I ripped my clothes, I didn't even care about my life.
I ran longer and longer into the forest. My paws were hitting the ground and the wind was blowing my white fur. I felt so free when I ran in my wolf form. I didn't want to go back; maybe I want to go rouge. Yeah, I was taught something about werewolves.
I ran longer and longer into the forest. I came to the border when the sky became twilight. I looked behind me and saw that no one was following me; therefor I smiled before stepping out of the land of The Sapphire Pack. I actually never knew where the different packs where, but I knew when I stepped over someone's border, I think.
I ran some more hours, when I heard a twig crack and growled at the one that made the sound. Out came the biggest wolf I've ever seen. He was a soothing blonde colour that wasn't very bright and had ice blue eyes. The only thing was that he wasn't bigger then Cole. I shook my head to get the thought away from my head.
The wolf growled at me, but I growled back at him. I knew it was an Alpha, but didn't care right now and I didn't really know how to act around another one. He walked behind a tree; meanwhile I tried to look for a place to escape. Then three other wolves appeared out from the trees, wow, just my luck. I growled, but they growled back.
The Alpha came back, but now he was in his human form. He was muscular, but not that big; he was slim and tall even though you saw his muscles. I think he saw that I was checking him out because he smirked when my eyes fell at his face. He had blonde hair, it was the same colour as his wolf, that almost fell into in his eyes, and it was messy. He had sparkling blue eyes that was beautiful to his tan skin, problem due to him living in the forest, his eyes reminded me very much of the dream I had before I got here and from the "vision" I had while shifting.
"If you're done checking me out, can you shift?" he asked, but he had to say I checked him out. Then I remember I didn't have any clothes on. I growled and shook my head no. He rolled his eyes and threw to me his t-shirt. I took it and went behind a tree; I shifted and took on the t-shirt. I must say it smelled good.
I walked back to the clearing and saw they were still there. I sighed and their heads snapped up. The Alpha's mouth was open and stared at me very long.
"Er, excuse me, I'm still here," I said and waved my arms. The Alpha shook his head and looked back at me. I crossed my arms over my chest and glared at him. Still, my body shivered by the way he looked at me and I was left confused.
"What is a mate less she-wolf doing at my land?" he asked, his eyebrow was raised.
"Mate less?" I asked. He nodded. I looked down at my shoulder where Cole's mark should have been, but it wasn't there anymore. I stared at my shoulder, but I came up with that I must have lost it when he had sex with Rita. I growled, but then I remember I wasn't alone. I looked up in embarrassment at them, my cheeks were hot and I blushed.
"Come with me," the Alpha said and gave me his hand. I looked at it suspiciously before I took it. I got small tingles, but brushed it off. He gave me a smile and I smiled back at him.
"Tell me, kitten," he said. Did he just call me kitten? I raised an eyebrow, but he smirked only. "What's your name?"
He wasn't bad, maybe a little cocky, but was very nice to be around and I got the strange feeling of trust and comfort. "Melody," I answered. He smiled and mumbled it. I felt safe with him, weird since I had just met him.
"What's yours, almighty Alpha?" I teased. He playfully hit me, and I pouted. He laughed at me and took my hand in his again.
"I'm Alpha Kyle," he answered. I liked that name. I smiled and nodded at him. Together we walked back to apparently where he lived. The wolves I saw were just guards, so they weren't with us.
Maybe I could start a new life here, without to think about the betrayal of my so called mate.
That thought made me smile.
