Chapter 28: Death

I jumped on the back of a brown wolf and snapped my teeth into its neck. The wolf growled and pushed me off. He threw me into a nearby tree and I winced in pain as I met it. I quickly got up and this time waited for the wolf to attack me.

He's the Beta! You can't take him alone, you stupid, my Wolf snarled at me. It was first when she said it that I noticed the power radiating from him. I knew I couldn't take him down myself, but I could at least try. He was from my father's pack and that was our enemy pack.

I growled at the male-wolf, but he didn't looked affected by it. If he was human I could swear he was smirking.

This time he leaped at me, but I quickly dodged his attack. I could feel my body tiring. Because I gave birth only last week, means my body is still recovering after all the pain.

The Beta saw this as an opportunity to take me down. His teeth sunk into my right leg and I howled in pain as he bit harder. Blood ran down my leg as he didn't let go. I tried to shake him off, but he wouldn't bulge. It was then I saw his open neck. I took this and ignored the pain from him. My canines sunk right into his neck as the Beta was oblivious to any thing other that maybe biting of my leg.

In my opinion he wasn't the best Beta that existed. He let out a growl and attacked my leg, again. I held his neck into my grip until he stopped struggling and I couldn't feel him move all.

First I was triumphed, but later the guilt kicked in. It was my first kill and it was a Beta. How did I even end up in this mess? Don't answer that.

He attacked us first, my Wolf said. And if she was a human she would have shrugged her shoulder.

No, we attacked him first! I said back to her. I felt awful for talking to her that way, but she needed to understand that it wasn't his fault, but he was in the other pack.

My Wolf sighed and shut me out as I turned my attention to the fight. My eyes landed on his big wolf.

He was fighting of three wolves and it looked like he was winning. One of the wolf bit him in the shoulder and I winced. I couldn't take it looking at him when he was in pain and I could see blood splattered over his blonde coat. So I ran over to help him.

I jumped over Kyle's wolf and onto the wolf right in front of him. At first Kyle growled, but then looked utterly concerned when he realised it was me.

Mel! What the hell are you doing?! His voice rung through my head as clear as the day. I didn't answer him at first and killed of the wolf that wanted to harm my mate.

I'm saving you! I reapplied to him. Kyle looked mad. His blue eyes shone with worries. I looked into his mind and could see how he pictures me dead.

I'm not going to die, Kyle, I said softly. When he didn't reply, I took off, wanting to help others from our pack.

In the corner of my eye, I could see Cole fighting of our Beta, Jonas, and Daniel was just standing in the forest line with a creepy smirk plastered on his face.

As much I wanted to run and rip of his head, I knew Daniel was stronger than me. Not only was he a vampire, but I hadn't had much training. Okay, I haven't had any training so everything I did was on instincts.

I saw Alexandra fighting of two wolves, but she looked like she would break under the pressure. The protectiveness of my pack filled me up, and since she was my best friend, I ran to her. I didn't stop to say anything to her as I attacked one of the two wolves.

It tried to claw at me, but I got away and scratched up his stomach. It growled at me, but it showed a little sign of tiredness of the blood loss.

When the wolf attached me again, it managed to cut my already hurting leg. I howled in pain as I felt the thick liquid run slowly down my leg.

Before I could get in another blow, a wolf jumped in front of me and killed it in mere seconds.

I handled it just fine, I puffed at him through the mind link. The wolf gave me a grin, even if it looked very weird.

I know. I could almost hear the smirk. If he had been in human form he would have.

I turned my back to him and looked at Alexandra that seemed to have taken the other wolf down. She thanked me through the link and ran of.

I walked around and almost bumped into this huge black wolf. At once I knew who it was and growled threateningly at him.

My father, even if I didn't like calling him that, shifted into his human form and I quickly hung my head down. He stood naked in the middle of a battlefield. Was he stupid or something?

When he cleared his throat, I hesitated brought my head up an saw that he was wearing some shorts and a T-shirt. The outfit didn't look good on him, but if it was Kyle...

Stop it Mel! I said to myself. I couldn't think these thoughts now!

"Shift," my father commanded. I looked at him weirdly. As if I was going to shift! I didn't even have any clothes.

As if reading my thoughts a dress was thrown in front of me. Since we were near the forest I took the dress in my mouth and walked behind a cluster of trees.

I shifted back into human form and took on the dress. It was a light blue colour and the whole dress flowed around me.

After I had changed I walked back into the clearing in front of the pack house. The fight was still going strong, but me, Kyle, Cole, Daniel and my father stood at the side.

"What the hell do you want?" I spat at my father. He looked taken aback, but smirked. I hated that I looked so much like him.

"Oh my dear Melody," he said sweetly, making me wanting to throw up. "We want you back, Moon Luna."

I rolled my eyes. "Are you still about that crap?" I asked irritated. Kyle had explained that it was a lie and the mark on my shoulder just was a mark I got after shifting for the first time. Every wolf got a mark like that somewhere on their body and I was unlucky enough that Cole had the almost same mark only on his other shoulder.

Kyle showed me his that was on the right side of his stomach. It was a beautiful wolf howling.

"Are you still on that?" I asked him again as he wouldn't answer me the first time. My father now begun to look angry, but calmed himself down.

"You can either come with us willingly or die," Cole said. My father nodded. I snorted. I also could feel the anger radiating from my mate's body.

"I will never come with you willingly because I have an amazing mate and two children," I said seriously. Cole gasped, but quickly his his shock. Mt father looked a little shocked to, but Daniel remained with a blank face.

"Y-you have kids?" Cole stuttered and I gave him a glare.

"Y-yes," I mimicked him and I could hear Kyle trying not to laugh.

"Well, then I have no other choice," my father said with faked sadness. Kyle growled, but everything happened too fast.

Suddenly I had a piercing pain in my chest that made me scream. The fight stopped. Wolves around looked shocked at us.

Daniel stood a couple of feet away from me and smirked. The pain was too much and I looked down.

In my chest where my heart was beating; a knife stood. When I moved another scream left my mouth. I couldn't take it, but my body wouldn't stop fighting.

Kyle who had been paralysed for a moment came to my side and tried to pull out the knife, but hissed when he touched it.

"It's silver!" Kyle roared and the last thing I remember before falling was that Kyle leaped at my father and ripped his head of.

"I love you Kyle," I whispered weakly before my body shut down from the intense pain and from the wound to my heart.

The darkness couldn't be described. It was empty and I could faintly hear a set of cries and begging. I closed my eyes and then it was all silent.
