Chapter 12

Midnight

When I fell through the portal back to my world, someone grabbed me and held my arms behind my back.

"Who are you?" ordered a soft but angry voice.

It took a few seconds for me to remember it was Lyell's voice.

"It's me!" I said, but I realized to late that my voice had changed too.

"Who are you?" Lyell asked again.

I started sobbing. No one was going to believe me. No one was going to believe that I was Fire. Lyell loosened his grip slightly than dragged me towards a hut. Eric's hut. Everyone was there except for George. Pablo was in the corner and had a big cut and he was bleeding black blood.

"Who is she?" Theridol asked in disgust, "Why did you drag her in here?"

Lyell threw me to the floor. I lay there but he pulled me up by the colour to stand.

"I reckon she is with them!" Lyell announced.

All my friends looked at me closely.

"Maybe," started Tear, "Her eyes are black."

I tried to think of a way out when I remembered Jade and our mind messages.

'Jade! I'm here! Believe in the impossible!' I thought.

Jade shivered and looked around.

'Where are you? I thought you were dead' she thought back.

'You won't believe me if I tell you,' I thought.

'Tell me!' she thought.

'I have black eyes now!'

Jade stood up and circled around me.

"Say something!" she said.

"Ummmmm.... Hi?!" I said. Jade looked at me.

'Liar!' she thought-shouted.

I looked at her with sad eyes but she remained merciless.

"Tie her up!" she commanded,"She's a liar!"

Everyone looked confused but moved towards me. I knew it was no use. I had to leave. I used my magic to make a little explosion in the kitchen and ran out of the house while everyone was distracted. I ran deep into a nearby woodland then teleported to The Dragon Island. I didn't know why, but it felt like an invisible force was pulling me there. I looked up at the moon in the dark sky. It was midnight.
