Chapter 28

My Friends

I sat up, a cheesy grin stuck to my face. I was unstopable with my friends by my side, so they better watch out. Wait a second, where were my friends?

"Angel," I mumbled urgently, panicked, "Where are the others?"

"What others?" my sister frowned.

I bit my lip. I was nothing without them. Without them, I would never have got here...

I shook my head to clear it and stood up. I was going to get them, no matter how hard it would be...

"I owe it to them," I whispered, clenching my fists.

"Okay..." Angel nodded, "I can never forgive myself for what I did. I don't deserve your kindness sis. But, I promise to do whatever I possibly can."

I lay a hand on her shoulder and locked my eyes with hers, "You are gonna go far, if you start again. So I'm taking you on my journey."

My sister flashed me a weak smile and hung her head, "Sure."

Breathing a sigh of relief, I turned away and used my darkness tracking to find Cynthia.. It wasn't long before I saw her.

"Oh no," I whispered.

I looked for Scarlett, Lila, and Alex. They were altogether at the very least...

Then it hit me. I had been so stupid! I could just use my darkness tracking to find the girls in the first place.

I gritted my teeth and facepalmed. God, I'm so stupid...

I used Darkness tracking, yet I could only find Jade. Oh. I'm even more stupid. Of course Dad would have known and taken every precaution. I'm so thick...

I stood up and grabbed my sister's warm hand in my right, Lyell's limp one in my left. I quickly chose to get Jade first and teleported.

Jade stood right in front of me, mascara mixed in her tears that stained her pale face. She shook vigorously and looked so thin. Have they even been feeding them?

I let go and hugged Jade hard.

"Jade.." I whispered over and over, stroking her back.

She sobbed some more and I pulled back, using my magic to create a box of tissues. Angel stood beside me, crossing her arms across her chest, staring at the floor. Lyell groaned and sat up.

I sighed in relief, handing Jade the box of tissues and helping Lyell to his feet.

"I'm okay babe," he mumbled, then he grabbed me.

I panicked. Maybe the reverse spell didn't work? This is bad, really bad.

Lyell's head was soo close to mine. Then...

His lips crashed into mine and I relaxed, a stray tear running down my cheek. He was back. My Lyell. He was back...

I heard a cough and I blushed, pulling away. I searched Lyell's eyes for a few seconds then went back to Jade.

"G-g-girls," she chocked, "Starved. Tortured. Not much time."

I heard an explosion in the distance. The sky lit up, many different colors illuminating the clouds.

Why were there fireworks? The war had strictly forbidden anyone to even carry them...

"The war is over!" shouted an announcement.

I was puzzled. What?!

I wanted to slap myself. I was becoming so slow. The prophecy, duh.

I had found the protection, now I just had to find the secret and it would all be over for me. But, what was it about sacrifices.

Then it hit me full on in the face. It meant that one of the girls could die!
