Chapter 22
Magic Haters
Alex opened his eyes and bit his lip, sitting up.
"Are we stuck here?" he asked anxiously.
"I think so," I sighed.
A felt something wet fall down my cheek. Was it a tear? Why was I crying? I didn't like David, so why am I crying?
I felt a dull pain in my heart as I realized why. He kissed me. And left me in the darkness. I hate the dark. How could he do this? How dare he do this!
I heard Alex shuffle over.
"Are you ok? Are tied up?" he asked.
"No and yes," I answered, the single tear falling to the floor.
I heard him snort and I rolled my eyes. I felt him carefully cutting the rope. Finally, I got up and stretched. I couldn't see anything. Just pitch black darkness...
"How do we get out?" Alex questioned.
"Well, I have magic," I admitted.
I heard a gasp from Alex and sounds of him stumbling back. Why? Was he a hate of magic? This was a big problem...
"M-magic?" Alex sobbed, "My family were killed because of Magic!"
The silent, dark room somehow became more silent even though Alex's loud sobs echoed around the room. I stared at the floor. His whole family dead? I don't know why, but I felt like I already knew this. The feeling was creeping me out.
I felt something hot in my pocket and reached in. It was the mirror and it was glowing! We could use it as a light! I drew it out of my pocket and before I could point it anywhere to use as a light, I was taken back to the garden of Magic.
I saw Mum and despite the situation in the living world, a smile crept across my face. I gave her a tight hug and soon everyone was around me. I decided then, I wanted answers about my past. A past I had forgotten.
"Mum," I took a deep breath, "Why can't I remember my past?"
Mum frowned and waved her hand, a picture appearing in thin air. It was me, I think, as a young girl. And Dad?
"When you were little Dad wanted power. A lot of power. He didn't want you to inherit both mine and his powers. This is one of the reasons he went over to the darkness. More power. He made sure you would forgot everything. I managed to reverse the spell. Most of it..." Mum explained.
The picture disappeared and I gave Mum a small smile. She returned one too and everything was fine.
"So Alex?" I asked, weakly.
"You were childhood sweethearts," Mum giggled, "You and him actually went on a play date. You were only about four though."
I blushed and bid her farewell. Now to face Alex....
"Girl?" I heard him ask, prodding me, "Did you use magic?"
I smiled at him and I could make out his calm expression within the light of the mirror.
"Is it okay if I do?" I asked permission.
Alex gave me a stiff nod and I hugged him.
"We were childhood sweet hearts," I whispered, "Ok, now I'll teleport us. Is that ok?"
Alex whimpered but nodded. I gave him an encouraging smile and grabbed his arm. We teleported back to Eric's house.
No one was home.
Just a scribbled note and a drop of blood.
