Chapter 11

I am Pure Magic

I floated around in nothingness for what seemed like forever. I was in pitch black and couldn't see anything. At least I had understood. I had finally understood. I wasn't normal or special. I was one of a kind. I can't die. I can't truly live like a normal person. I wondered around in the nothingness for a while and eventually spotted a light. I ran towards it, relieved. It was a portal. I stepped through it.

I came out into a huge garden with an ancient oak tree in the centre. I looked down at my body-but I didn't have one. I was just red smoke. When I looked back at the tree, it had gone. In its place stood a tall enchantress. Her ginger hair shone and her Scarlett eyes stood out on her perfect pale face. Her long, white dress wrapped around her and blew in the wind. She walked towards me and waved her hands, a body appearing beside me-my body. The beautiful woman clicked her fingers and everything went black once again.

When I came around, I was back in my body and my head lay on the woman's lap. She was stroking my hair softly. Somehow it felt familiar. I lay there thinking about where I had felt it before. Then I remembered. I remembered the soft smell and comfort. I quietly sat up and looked at the woman.

"Mum?" I asked, feeling whole again, "Is it-Is it really you?"

Mum smiled and said a simple word, bringing me the greatest joy I had ever experienced, "Yes."

We sat and talked for a bit. Mum said she was really proud of what I had done. When I asked her about dad, her face darkened. She explained to me that my Dad had been taken over by darkness. He hadn't really died he just ran away to join the other side after faking his death. We sad in silence for a bit until mum pointed out 4 other trees that I hadn't noticed before.

"Are they people too?" I questioned her.

"Yes, they are," she smiled, she clapped her hands and the trees become people too.

All the people looked familiar and it slowly dawned on me that they were Jade's, Theridol's and Tear's mums. I didn't recognize the last woman though.

"Kiara?" I said in amazement, "But you didn't die!"

My mum laughed and told me that Kiara was a witch so she couldn't die. Then she told me about the garden.

"This garden is the source of all magic!" she explained.

"Wow!" I breathed.

A gust of wind blew fiercely through the garden, rustling the grass. Everyone except my mum liked at each other worriedly.

"What's happening?" I asked, unsure of whether I should be worried or calm.

"Do you know what day it is today?" Mum asked.

"I don't know," I said confused.

"Your birthday. Today you will come of age and become the source of all magic!" she exclaimed.

The worried looks all vanished and my mum pulled me to my feet. The ladies formed a circle around me, touching palms. I looked around worried but the one woman I didn't recognise smiled at me, calming me instantly. They whispered a spell into the small breezes passing by. After they had each recited an incantation, they lit up separate colours. My mum was red, Jade's mum lit up green, Kiara lit up blue, Theridol's mum lit up light yellow and the woman who smiled at me lit up white. I stared in amazement and realized that I was lighting up too. I expected to light up red like my mum but instead I lit up black. I shivered but it was a good shiver. Another fierce breeze blew towards us and we stopped glowing.

Everyone except my mother and the lady that smiled at me went back to their places and became trees again. My mother waved her hand and a hand mirror appeared in my hand. I looked at my self. My eyes had turned black but had a sparkle in them.

"Your new name is Midnight," my mum smiled, before hugging me hard, "I must become a tree again, but remember, I will always love you. When you want to go back, just teleport."

Then my mum put the mirror in my pocket in my cloak and kissed me goodbye before going back to her place and becoming a tree like the others.

The woman who smiled at me, looked at me and smiled again. I calmed down again.

"You just have to find my daughter, then you will defeat the other side," she spoke in awe, "I can't believe you have come this far!"

"Thanks!" I smiled,"Your smile is so pretty!"

"It calms whoever looks at it," she says, handing me two bracelets, "This will protect you. Give one to my daughter too."

"How will we find your daughter," I asked.

"Look in your heart!" she said putting her hand on top of my heart, giving me a warm tingly feeling,"All you girls are connected!"

Then she walked over to her place and became a tree once again.

I took a deep breath and teleported back to the world of the living.
