    reggie

I stare at the kids in front of me, playing football. I felt a solid pat on my shoulder, I looked up and look at Dad. "Reggie, you have to learn how to play football. It would be embarrassing to me if my son wasn't as good at football. Son, I was quarterback for Christ's sake!" Dad said, making me feel guilty, it isn't my fault I suck at football... I meekly nod my head. He walked to the grass holding a football.

(just so u know i know nothing abt football so this is just me making random shiz up)

"So, in football the 3 basic things you have to know, is how to throw and catch." he explained. "And to think fast" he said, "Catch" he yelled suddenly throwing the ball right at me, hitting me square in the stomach, making me kneel down, holding my stomach. I groan, "What did I say? Think fast" He scolded

"Get up, only losers stay on the ground." He said. I stood up, slowly, hissing in pain. "Now, get the ball, and throw it at me" he said walking further away. "It has to reach me. Okay?" he shouted, so I can hear him, even with the distance between us. I nod my head, stretching my arm back and shooting it in front of me.

It only reached about two meters away from me.

Dad groaned in defeat, he walked up to me. "Maybe football just isn't your sport." he said, patting my shoulder. "Such a disappointment" I hear him mumble, though I think I wasn't supposed to. I looked down and felt tears form in my eyes.

"Let's go home, buddy"

The first day of summer, and I'm determined to learn how to play football. I raced down the stairs with a bag, inside was a bottle of cold water, a football, a towel, and an extra shirt.

"Mom, I'm gonna go out and play football" I said, walking into the kitchen, where she was making food. "Honey, I thought you didn't know how to play?" she asked, mixing something in a bowl. "Well, I want to learn how. I don't want to be a disappointment to Dad" I said, trying to sound as if it meant nothing. She placed the bowl down on the counter, and faced me. "Reggie, where did that even come from?" she asked, concern in her eyes. "Nowhere, I just want to be as good as Dad" I lied.

"Reggie, listen to me. Just because you're not like your Father, that doesn't make you a disappointment." she said. I nod my head "I know, Mom" I said, kissing her cheek, before dashing to the door

"Be back by dinner, okay?" She yelled. "Okay" I yelled back.

I look around me and saw the same kids in school, running around and some, playing football. Maybe it was a bad idea to learn how to play football alone, everyone was in groups, some in pairs, but none the less playing together.

I opened my bag and pulled out my football, placing my bag beside the tree. "So, in football the 3 basic things you have to know, is how to throw and catch." Dad words echo in  my head. "And to think fast"
