Gage's P.O.V
She was hiding something. I can see it in her eyes. Whatever it was, it was taking over her mind.

I watched her walk out of our bathroom pinning her curly hair up in a bun. Just looking at her hair you would assume she was a happy girl, but her eyes told a different story.

I pulled a white T-shirt over my head and sat on the bed.

Naomi was taking over my thinking process as well. At work I thought of what she was doing, if she okay, or if she had eaten. Even though I hadn't eaten at the time.

"Why can't I just sleep in the guest room." Naomi complained turning to face me.

"You know why."

She sighed and crossed her arms over her breast.

I hated when she did that, it blocked my view.

"I can sleep on the couch." I said trying to take away her discomfort.

She nodded and walked to the bed and sat. "Gage?"

"Yes?" I asked.

"Why do you deal with me? Is it because I'm your mate? Or is there a different reason?" She questioned. She didn't look my way at all when she asked me this.

"That's a weird question don't you think?"

"I need to know."

"I don't necessarily "deal" with you Naomi." I said trying to catch her eye. "Why are you asking me this?"

She looked like she was going to tell me something important but she shut it down quickly. After a minute she said, "Never mind don't worry about it."

I sighed.

When would she trust me?

I grabbed a pillow and moved to the couch. Once settled, I clapped my hands to turn off the lights. "Goodnight love."

"Goodnight." She said.

Silence.

"If the world of werewolves didn't exist Naomi, and there weren't any mates. I would have taken interest in you either way." I said in the dark.

She didn't say anything but, I knew my words affected her because I heard her heart beat faster.

Three hours later I was still changing sleeping positions. The couch was uncomfortable and I just couldn't seem to get some sleep.

"Gage. For Gods sake just come and sleep in your bed." Naomi mumbled in her pillow.

Looks like she couldn't get any sleep either.

I grabbed my pillow and did what my mate said. Before I laid down I said, "I thought you would be more comfortable with me sleeping on the couch?"

"Shut up." She grumbled.

I chuckled and I lay beside her. After a couple of minutes we were in each other's arms.

How it happened?

We met in the middle.

Now if only that happened with our conversations.

"It's just for tonight. I couldn't sleep anyways." She mumbled in my chest.

"Mhm." I said kissing her curly fro.

When I fell asleep, it was the best god damn sleep I ever had. Knowing my mate was safe and was at peace for the moment, put my wolf to rest for the time being.

Before I knew it the sunlight was poking my eyelids.

I sighed and looked at her.

My wolf clawed to be let out. I couldn't let him out just yet. I didn't want him to scare her off. I needed her to be comfortable first.
