Veronica gently tossed her overnight bag to the side of Betty's stand, the blonde was still stood in the frame of her doorway. She watched as Veronica propped herself down in front of the mirror, fixing the bits of mascara that had fallen from her bold eyelashes. Betty always admired the way Veronica had done her make-up, she made her eyes stand out more than anything else, using dark make-up to deepen the dark chocolate brown of her eyes and Betty thought it was beautiful. Betty let out a sigh as she stepped into her room, looking curiously at the brunette.
"Betty, you're staring." Veronica grinned, not even glancing over at her, she could just feel Betty's eyes focused wholly on her not that she minded, but she hated blushing and to avoid that she'd have to stop the blonde from gazing at her.
Betty's cheeks coloured at being caught, but she didn't look away like she usually would. Not when she knew something was bothering Veronica and funnily enough that bothered her. "...just now, when I looked over at you...you look sort of upset. Is something wrong?"
Ronnie stopped fixing her make-up, glancing down at her lap twiddling with a ring on her finger something she did when she was nervous or worried. Betty headed over to her mirror, dragging her corner chair over with her and perching beside Veronica.
"I'm here, even if you're just upset because you're hungry." Betty tried to joke even though she knew it wasn't remotely funny
She'd just wanted to lighten the mood, they were always open with each other. Except their feelings of course. It appeared to work because Veronica's lips quirked into a quick smile then vanished just as fast. Veronica sucked in a breath and looked into Betty's crystal blue eyes which were boring into hers. "V?""I want to visit my dad." She blurted out, praying Betty wouldn't think she was crazy. Both girls remained silent for a few seconds then Veronica decided to explain why but Betty cut her short.
"Then let's visit him...together." Betty decided, wanting to be as supportive as she could be.
The blonde extended a hand lacing her fingers through Veronica's, keeping the smile on her face and giving her hand a tight squeeze. Veronica was slightly astonished, she'd expected Betty to give her all the reasons why she shouldn't go. Including the fact that her mother had told her it was best for her not to see him, not until he was out. But Veronica couldn't wait that long.
"Y-you're serious, B? No lecture on how it's dangerous. Are you sure you really want to come with me? The place they threw my father in isn't pretty."
Betty nodded, keeping their hands connected. "I want to go with you. I can't imagine how much you miss your dad, if mine was in there I'd visit him whether people told me not too."
"You're incredible, Betty Cooper." Veronica says sweetly, tugging Betty's hand until they held each other in an embrace. "I know it's a lot to ask...but do you think we could go now? I could call Smithers, I'd have to make sure he didn't inform my mother."
"I would rather be with you than be here when my mom and dad start arguing, but uh," Betty glanced down at her sweatshirt. "I think I'll get on something more...well, suitable for visiting a prison rather than wearing a bunny jumper."
"You still say bunny?" Veronica teased, pouting slightly when Betty left her side to go find something else to wear, pulling out a black top and settling on it. Betty raised an eyebrow at her.
"I've had this debate with Archie several times. Bunny sounds much cuter than rabbit, bunny is a fun word to say and its found that most people call rabbits bunnies when they're babies, so why change it when they grow older?" Betty argued, slipping out of her jumper and pulling the black top over her, her cheeks heating as she found Veronica watching like she had that time at the pool with Chuck. "Let's get going. Visiting hours will probably end at seven and it's already half five."
Veronica argued no further, the brunette snatching up her purse so that she could tip Smithers for keeping it from her mother. Smithers might be loyal to her mom but it didn't mean he wouldn't keep a secret or two from her mother when Veronica asked it. It only took a few minutes before the older man pulled up in the family limo, greeting both girls with a hug, he'd gotten used to seeing Betty now. She spent more time around Veronica's than she did her own home.
"Do you know where to go?" Veronica asked as she clambered in the back beside Betty, their hands brushing making the two hitch a breath but act it off.
"I've taken your mother there plenty of times. I know a few shortcuts by now. Miss Lodge - don't get me wrong, I'm not disagreeing with you but do you think this is a good idea?" Smithers questioned, glancing at the raven-haired girl through the rear view mirror as they drove in the direction of the near by prison her father was being held in.
"I miss him, I...it's been so long since I saw him and the last time I did was in a court room months ago." Veronica sighed, shuffling uncomfortably in her seat, she always did when she spoke of her father.
Betty had been curious one night and she'd searched up Veronica's father to see what he'd looked like. No surprise he had dark hair a lot like Veronica's yet his eyes were a storm grey, something that mirrored a warriors bravery and strength and although Veronica didn't have grey eyes, she definitely had the same traits as her father.
