It didn't take long for Betty to open up, it was always difficult keeping something from Veronica especially when it was about her feelings. She'd told Veronica how it feels like she's losing control, like something was eating away at her from the inside and she couldn't stop it no matter how man pills she took. Veronica slid her hand into Betty's pressing a gentle kiss on Betty's cheek doing her best to show the girl she cared for her, that she'd be by her side to help her.
"I'll be by your side, B." Veronica assured her with a pearly smile, the two walking side by side as they headed home. "Maybe these new tablets will be different, there's a reason they prescribed them to you right?"
"I'll try them, but I doubt they'll help. I can feel it V. It's like I have a hidden personality and it's mean and cruel and rule free." Betty mumbled, glancing over her shoulder to check that someone like Cheryl wasn't lurking behind, not that Cheryl would walk home, they girl drove her car everywhere. Veronica gave Betty a sympathetic look.
"I promise, B. If your hidden personality starts to show, I'll do everything in power to keep it under control and we both know going against me no one wins, so I'm sure I could handle you."
Betty turned Veronica in a flash, catching Veronica's lips with her own, letting her fingers run through Veronica's raven-hair, Veronica's surprise vanished and she returned the kiss, hands resting on Betty's hips, smiling as they kissed. She could never argue against Betty's emotional outbursts towards her, it was another reason Ronnie loved the blonde, she was spontaneous. Veronica tilted her head about to deepen the kiss but the two separated within milliseconds when a loud horn when off. Both of the girls heads whipped to the source of the noise, hearts racing in fear from the sudden loud noise. Betty quickly swiped Veronica's lipstick from her lips, but her mouth fell open when she saw the owner of her car. Her mother's face was now stone cold, glaring at the pair as though they'd just committed the worst crime in a century. Betty shuffled under her mothers gaze. Veronica was watching Alice now too, trying to suss out what Alice would do, she was sure she'd try to force Betty to break up with her, the thought making Veronica's heart ache.
"Elizabeth, get in the car," Betty looked at Veronica, with a slightly scared and apologetic look before Alice spoke up again, her voice now sharp and intense the glare still settled on her face. "Now Betty. Move."
Betty somehow found her ability to move, one foot in front of the other she reached out for the passenger seats handle before pulling back and turning to Veronica, quickly rushing over to her.
"Pray I see you tomorrow." Betty whispered, meeting Veronica in the middle for a quick kiss then turning to her mother who'd turned when Betty moved back to Veronica, her eyes straight forward towards the empty road. Betty pulled open the side door and shrunk in her seat beside her mother, waving a short goodbye to Veronica who returned the gesture until Betty was out of view. Veronica was thankful she wasn't Betty right now, Alice was strict but she knew she'd flip at Betty for being with a girl, especially with her, Alice already hated the Lodges for some unknown reason.
Veronica pulled out her phone sending a quick text to Kevin, confirming she'd spoken to Betty and then one to Archie, who'd asked if she wanted to do a duet at the homecoming, she wanted to say no but he'd pleaded her and swore he'd buy her a double chocolate milkshake at Pop's for at least a month and she couldn't refuse, you'd understand if you had a milkshake from Pop's. They'd set up a rehearsal for later tonight, Archie had been swamped with his mum being back but he was doing this for his mum, luckily for him Betty had needed someone to play music and Archie was free. Veronica had only agreed when Betty had pulled her aside and told her she needed to preform with Archie so that he played upbeat music rather than deep, dark music. Thankfully that type of music was Veronica's specialty, so she agreed.
Archie was quick to reply as always, the boy was rarely away from his phone. Veronica let out a breath of relief when he told her he'd come and collect her because she was sure her feet would be swollen in her heels if she had to walk the entire way to Archie's with no company to distract her from the long walk. Veronica had been planning on asking Betty to come with her to homecoming although she was sure she probably didn't have to ask but she wanted to anyway, that was if Alice allows Betty to attend homecoming although technically Alice had to go as well seem as the older generations were expected to attend if they were in the town. Her own mum was going with Archie's mother and father which Veronica had told her mum was weird but her mum pointed out that she had attended a dance with Betty and Archie. Veronica noted that but warned her mother that that hadn't ended well for anyone but her mother shooed her off and told her to ask Betty to go, which Veronica ended up discussing ways to ask Betty. Her mother had told her to just traditionally ask her but Veronica wanted something special. She knew Betty had a soft spot for white roses so she was going to interpret that somehow.
