Betty was never against rain, sure, she was more of a sunshine and rainbows kind of girl. But she still basked in it's existence. She enjoyed the way it sounded when it hit the window sill, in some sense it was almost relaxing and how it ran down the windows making the clear window now seem blurry. Most of all she liked how it could effect people. Science was right when they claimed weather could determine peoples moods, although Betty still remained her usual self, Veronica didn't.

Even though she'd known the girl for almost a year now, it never seized to amaze her how Veronica reacted to the rain. It was like a hateful creature had taken over her as soon as she spotted an inch of rain; first, she'd grumble and grunt about anything she could. Then, she'd complain about why rain was awful - even though Betty had told her reasons why it was good - Veronica dismissed them and returned to her complaining.

It isn't that Veronica was unpleasant when it rained...it was just that Betty usually ended up being the only stuck with Veronica's rants; although Betty had to give her props to how compassionate she was about disliking rain. Betty was sure she'd get an A+ if that was ever an assignment.

Betty sat in the cafeteria, placing fries one by one in her mouth, as she stared off into space whilst Veronica complained. She thought about how she'd told Veronica she loved her, how they shared a kiss and yet, as powerful as they both were. Veronica seemed to have completely erased it, Betty had tried to talk about it but Veronica was skillful at changing subjects when she wanted to. So Betty let it pass. It had been a week.

Veronica let out a sigh, one filled with annoyance and boredom, her eyes flickered up to find the blonde had been completely airing her, lost in her own world. Her frown only lasted a few seconds before she took a bite out of her burger, allowing her friend to daydream. Veronica knew how much of a complainer she could be when the skies were crying, and the clouds had morphed into a murky grey. So she left Betty to be alone with her thoughts. It was only now, in this time of silence when she noticed their lack of friends, even Archie had ran off somewhere, which was unusual seem as he'd been glued to being around them recently.

Veronica couldn't help but wonder if maybe he'd gone off for another music lesson with Valerie and if so, she was sure she wouldn't see him for a couple of hours tops. Her eyes caught a glimpse of red hair that was heading her way, as she always does, a pearly smile playing across her lips as her eyes fell on Veronica.

"Veronica, Betty. Are you still free for the cheer-leading practice tonight?" Cheryl asked, snapping Betty out of her mind and eyes narrowing as she watched Cheryl slide into the seat beside Veronica, a little too close for Betty's liking. Betty hadn't heard what the girl had said but she knew Veronica would answer whatever it was and she'd probably get away with not listening.

"Yes, Cheryl. We'll be there. Will Josie be preforming at the game again?" Veronica questioned her eyebrow arched, Betty knew the brunette missed singing with the Pussycats. She'd become quick friends with them, although Betty was sure sometimes that their was doubt in her voice.

Betty had been in the audience when Veronica sang I Feel Love with the Pussycats, she knew the girl had a voice of an angel. The two had broken into song more times than she could count. Sometimes Veronica would sing properly, other times she'd joke around but either way - Betty loved hearing her voice. Veronica had told her she had a talent for singing too, but Betty was sure she was lying to save her feelings.

"Unfortunately Josie has other plans, so we're trying to book someone else. I heard you sing with Josie, maybe you could fill her spot? I mean, we've got backup cheerleaders who could do your parts whilst you're up on stage singing," Cheryl implied, ushering the girl to get up and sing because like Betty, she knew Veronica had a talent for it.

Veronica turned her head to her best friend, hoping she'd let Cheryl down. Bad idea because she saw Betty's smirk and knew the girl was on Cheryl's side for once.

"You could even get Archie to write you a song."

"Look Cheryl, I don't sing for a living...as much as I'd like to show off my extra talent. I won't. I want to be cheer-leading with you guys." Veronica declared, side glancing at Betty too, she knew the blonde could be persuasive when she wanted to be and she just wanted to make it clear that she wasn't up for singing.

Betty returned to her food, understanding Veronica's look. She noticed the disgusted look Cheryl was giving Betty's fries and Veronica's cheeseburgers, probably calculating all the fat and carbs in their food.

"Fine, Betty. What about you?"

Betty almost choked on her food when she heard Cheryl's question. She had to whack her chest a couple of times to help the fry go down. Her eyes widened as she looked up at the sneaky ginger, wondering if she was just playing with her but Cheryl's face was serious, she looked impatiently at the blonde, rolling her eyes.

"Well, Betty?"

"I, uh...but you don't even know if I can sing." Betty stuttered, making Cheryl roll her eyes once more as if she was being stupid.

"You do realise me and the vixens can hear you both when you sing during practices, right?" Cheryl sighed, Betty's cheeks blushed in embarrassment, she hated it when people heard her sing; except maybe Veronica. "As much as I hate to say it. You've got a good voice, Betty. Put it to use."

Betty hadn't ever in her life, got a compliment from Cheryl, so receiving one now, was a big thing. Betty's eyes moved to Veronica who had been watching her best friend as she sat astonished by the compliment. Veronica gestured her to say yes so Betty nodded, praying silently that she was making the right decision. The answer seemed to satisfy Cheryl as she rose to her feet with a smile on her face.

"Good. See you at practice, Veronica. Betty, you'll be having lessons with Josie. Don't be late, she doesn't like being kept waiting."
