Chapter 4
I opened my eyes slowly to a dim room, only lit by the sunlight seeping through the window. I could make out two shadows hovering over me, yet my vision was still blurred. I tried to sit up but a sharp pain echoed round the back of my head, forcing me to lie back down. "Hey there." A voice cooed. June. "Take it easy there Mais." Lois.
"Why are you guys here?" I croaked out, looking around. I spotted Dan in the corner, looking at me from under his floppy hair. Even though my vision was a little foggy, he still looked as handsome as always.
"We were worried about you, you weren't replying to any of our messages." Lois said, concerned.
"Your gran explained everything to us." June said, I turned back to her and Lois. "We think you should go." Lois said.
"Go where?" I asked. They both looked at each other before Dan pushed himself off the wall and walked over. "Girls, let me explain. Can you give us a minute?" he asked them. "Sure." They both said. Lois leant down and kissed me on my forehead before they both left.
I managed to sit myself up, the dizziness now gone. Dan sat next to me, chewing on his lip ring.
I couldn't help but admire the way his tattoos lined his arm muscles perfectly or when he chewed his lip ring it made him look really adorable but really good at the same time. His deep voice snapped me out of my thoughts.
"If you are going to work with me on this mission, we have to leave for London today." He said, turning his head to me.
"Today?!" I shrieked, my voice still hoarse.
"Yeah. The agency want to begin training as soon as possible." He told me.
"But, I barely know you." I said. It was true, he could be lying for all I know.
"You can trust me. I've worked for the agency for 3 years and I will protect you with my life." He reassured me. It seemed genuine, I guess.
"Where will I stay?" I asked. Typical me, being all practical.
"There is a building attached to the agency HQ, which houses all of the agents in temporary accommodation when they are at home base." He explained.
"Ok. So, June and Lois know everything?" I asked him.
"Yep, every single little detail. But you know if they say anything I will have to take them out." I looked up at him. He was deadly serious.
"What?!" he remained still until his face broke out into a grin.
"Oh my god that was horrible!" I playfully shoved him before I stood up and began to make my way across to the doorway.
"They've already sworn to secrecy so it's all good." He spoke behind me. God he moves fast.
We went into the kitchen. My gran, Lois and June were all stood talking but fell silent when we entered.
"So?" my gran asked.
"I'm going to go. To try it out." I said. My gran walked up to me and gave me a hug. "You'll be amazing, it runs in the family. Just stay safe." She whispered in my ear before pulling away and turning to dan. She pointed a finger at him, "If anything, anything happens to her. I will hold you responsible. Understood?" She threatened him. He gulped before nodding. I ran up to my room and packed as much stuff as I could. Nearly every item of clothing and all of my beauty and hair products. Once I had checked I had everything I needed, I headed back downstairs to them all waiting for me.
I hugged June and Lois goodbye, a few tears being shed before our departure.
Dan drove us to the train station, our tickets already booked, the train almost ready. We boarded and sat down opposite each other, a table in between.
Dan put a briefcase on the table and pulled out a pile of papers. This should be interesting.
