"Well well well. I am so glad to see you, Maisie." The familiar deep voice filled my apartment and sent chills down my spine. I remained silent, although my breath was fast and adrenaline rushed to my fingertips making me twitch.
"What's wrong Maisie?" He began walking towards me, stopping just a few centimetres away to lean in towards me to whisper.
"Cat got your tongue?" He smirked and walked around me into my kitchen.
I clenched my teeth to stop any words I may regret from escaping my lips. I decided to go for a more civil option.
"Why are you here, Mark?" I spoke harshly and blunt, no warmth or emotion to my voice.
"Can't I pay my favourite spy a visit?" he smiled, I winced at the sight. His face wavered and he stood up straight, folding his arms across his chest.
I stayed silent while he smirked at me. In all honesty I didn't really know what answer he was looking for, so I decided to play it safe and wait until I found out what kind of game he was playing.
"I hear you're very familiar with my boss. Or actually his son." He laughed to himself and winked at me. He walked closer to me before averting himself towards my living room. "Things with Danny boy didn't work out then I take it?" He continued to walk around my living room, seemingly admiring the decor.
"Well he wants to make you an offer. Lanianos that is. He either wants them or you." He paused and looked back at me. I don't know why, for effect maybe. This new information didn't shock me, in fact I had kind of been expecting some sort of deal. I had done my homework on Lanianos. I knew how he thought.
"Why does he want me?" I asked, the thought suddenly confusing me. Mark simply shrugged and began to walk towards me.
"I guess he sees something in you he wants to exploit. Or he simply wants the threat removed. I don't know. But I do know that he never does anything without good reason." He smiles to himself.
"Fine. But you're gonna have to give me time to get ready because I'm not staying in these ruined clothes." I said, defeated. There's no point in even attempting to fight it. I wanted to go rescue them and I guess this is the best way in.
After about an hour I was clean and in new clothes, my hair was still damp but I was getting tired of hearing mark shouting through my door to hurry up. After about the hundredth time I tore open my door to a very frustrated Mark.
"Yes?" I smiled innocently, you could almost see smoke coming out of his ears.
"You have been over an hour. We need to go." He said through clenched teeth before grabbing my arm and dragging me out of my room.
I went with him, just quickly grabbing a backpack i had prepared earlier on the way. It wasn't especially important, but it was just nice to know I had some weapons if I needed them.
Once I was shoved into his black land rover, my hands were bound and a blindfold was placed around my head.
There goes my plan to find out where their secret lair was.
I must've fallen asleep in the car because I woke up to find myself being carried, my sight still blocked. I could hear some mumbling and the chest I was leaning on vibrated so by the voice I knew it was Mark who was carrying me. I decided to continue to play dead and let him carry me. I mean, why walk when I have a muscular, creepy kidnapper carrying me?
I heard a door open and I was carried into the room and then dropped onto a hard chair. I pretended to wake from my daze as the blindfold was removed. Although, I now couldn't see because of the huge white light shining down from the ceiling. I squinted at the floor, groaning at my aching eyes while my hands were bound behind the chair. I looked up as my vision cleared to see mark stood staring down at me. I looked around and it turns out I had been placed in a cell, almost like a little interrogation room. No bed, no windows, only my chair and a door. This was going to be harder than I had anticipated.
