Suddenly, I'm feeling brave

I don't know what's got into me

Why I feel this way

Can we dance, real slow?

- All About Us, He Is We

#

Kara became comfortable with Raffy that the two shared the responsibility between the two kids and allowed us guys to have fun. They left us on the backyard where we were all recounting our college days, our wins and losses, our victory parties, our hardwork over some cans of beer.

Kara guided the three going to the guest room and she played with Cali while Raffy was looking after Colbie. They talked about motherhood, pregnancy, giving birth, how to take care of infants, married life, and being a wife and mother at the same time. If it was some sort of preparation, I'm excited. Kara asked her about Ethan and some things she knew about me; Raffy interrogated her relationship with me of course. She asked her about the things that I did for her and how we fell in love. Knowing her, she wanted to make make sure that she's updated. I saw them laughing and I found it amazing that these women who are important to me can laugh with each other.

Before Raffy bid her goodbye, the two were best of friends.

When the party ended, some of our guests drove back to Manila while the others checked in on the nearest hotel to spend the night there instead of going home. Raffy and Ethan went home since they came with a driver. Ethan knew he might get drunk, that's why. He always keeps in mind the safety of his family before himself.

Kara took the liberty of telling me bout what she has been thinking all this time about Raffy and me, which I found hilarious. She also told me how she found out and how she got embarassed with Ethan. I know we missed communicating which prologed our agony but I'm not one to complain. That would be a good lesson for us. What matters to me is that I have Kara now.

I know that if Raffy finds out what Kara had been thinking about us, she would die with nonstop laughter but maybe I can spare my woman with another embarrassment. I can keep this secret just between me, Kara, and Ethan.

When all the cars and the people disappeared, the place became quiet and it was just the two of us. She suddenly felt tired and I pulled her inside so we can sleep. As soon as we got inside our room, Kara sat on the couch and rested for ten minutes before she retreated to the bathroom to clean herself. I was left watching some late night program while I waited.

Thirty minutes later, Kara went out and started drying her hair. She wore her favorite PJs and lied down on the bed while waiting for me. She looked at the alarm clock beside her. It was already past twelve midnight.

I came out shortly from the bathroom and as soon as I was done, I took the space beside Kara and the two of us stared blankly at the ceiling.

"Kara? Are you still awake?" I asked her.

"Yeah," she answered. "Why?"

"I have a story to tell you."

"What is it?" she asked me.

"There was one time in the old history of Germany that a king named King Josef ruled," I started and turned on the brain.

"I'm sorry to cut you off honey but Germany does not have kings and queens. They're parliamentary," she told me. I have foreseen this. "Poor in social studies, huh?"

"Shh," I silenced her. "This is a history of Germany that no one knows of. And so he ruled for a long time until he got ill and he needed to pass the crown to his eldest son Amir. Amir that time was in love with a princess."
