Not Goodbye
AJ was put under house arrest,
Alone at the café, doing what he did best.
He was loading trays right into the oven,
When someone unexpectedly walked in.
AJ found Loren standing at the door,
Her shoulders hunched, eyes to the floor.
When her eyes met his, they welled with tears,
She then told AJ, what he feared to hear.
"I've got good news, AJ, soon you're free,
You're not going to jail, not for me.
Sad to say, I'm going with Lorne,
I'm joining my brother, were leaving for home."
He looked at her with the saddest eyes,
To what she said, he gave a reply.
"What then becomes of us, Loren?
Will we ever see each other again?"
Loren gently touched AJ's face,
"I'm not giving up," she quickly said.
"But we need to deal with issues, things need to be fixed.
This isn't good bye, AJ. That's a promise."
With that, Loren gave him a kiss,
AJ then took her for a warm embrace.
"I'll always love you, Loren." He whispered in her ear.
It was something that she always wanted to hear.
He let her go, then dried her eyes.
"Now go to your brother, be at his side.
Drop by the cafe, before you head home.
I'll prepare some brownies, for you both."
Loren giggled as she turned away,
AJ then gave her another embrace.
With a hopeful smile, he watched her leave,
As she went to see Crooked Smile, across the street.
