I sat outside on the stairs, humming to myself as I drew the trees in the horizon. I had my my ear buds in, and volume was turned all the way up. My feet lightly tapped on the concrete stairs as my black pen traced and drew lines. I began singing quietly, my voice a little off tune, but I honestly didn't care. I looked up to glance at the trees again and seen a boy standing there with a smile on his face.

"Bear," he smiled warmly at me.

"Don't." I closed my notebook and stood up, leading him to my home. I lead him inside the apartment, where Camille was now stood in the kitchen cooking. She smiled at me and mentioned for me to come here excitedly.

I walked up to her with raised eyebrows and an amused expression on my face as she dropped the knife on the counter and leaned forward.

"Guess what?" She smiled. "You're going to that program thing in August! I managed to squeeze you in! I knew how much it meant to you and so it my like my life mission to get you in! And who's this?"

"I'm Phil," he shook her hand. "You're Dans mum?"

   "Only by choice," She winked.

"Camille adopted me," I told him. "She teaches special needs kids."

   "That's amazing." Phil grinned.

"It is, isn't it? I love my job so much," She turned back to me. "Why's your friend here so late, Dan? Not that I'm complaining it's good to see someone else here besides Peej."

"Because we got a project to work on," I said. "It's on Zodiac Signs."

   "Oooh what sign?" She grinned.

"Taurus." Phil answered. I'm glad he said it because I honestly wasn't paying attention.

   "Well you two have fun!"

"You have fun trying to cook," I smiled, leading Phil to my room. My smile quickly faded once we got to my bedroom and the door was closed.

"She's nice," He said. "I see where you get your cuteness from, Bear."

"Stop calling me that," I hissed. "My name's Dan, not Daniel, not Bear, Dan."

"Calm down there cowboy," He chuckled, which made me want to strangle him. God he was annoying. I don't care what anyone else has said about him, I didn't like this man. I wanted him out of my life.

"So what's your plan for the project Dan?" He looked at me. "You're good in Art and you always get A's in English so I know you have a plan."

"I do," I crossed my arms with a smirk.

   "Well? What is it?"

   "Look up."

On my ceiling I painted it black, and on it was stars. There were all the constellations.. All the zodiac signs. They were all in different colors, all labeled, too. It was true I was Space obsessed. Anything to do with the universe made me happy. Who wouldn't love learning about the space we live in?

"You're such a nerd. Damn." He laughed, and looked around my room. It was small and cozy, with a double wide bed rested in the far left corner, opposite to the door. Posters of things I've painted and bands hung on the wall my door was at, and my dresser was against the only wall with a window,  along with a mirror above it. My closet door was open, and you could see all my jumpers and shoes. There was a circular white fluffy run in the middle of the floor.

"Cute," Was all Phil said. I imagined his room to smell of sweat and girls and looks all messy but clean at the same time. "So.. You plan on painting the sign thingy?"

"Yes," I nodded. "And you're going to do the research."

"What? That's no fair. I do all the work while you play in paint." He frowned, crossing his arms.

"Phil painting doesn't take a day. I'll be working on it for at least three weeks." I rolled my eyes. "Stop throwing a fit. You're acting like a child."

"Whatever." He mumbled, looking back out my window. "So when are you going to start?"

"We are starting right now. Grab my paints from under my bed and set them on my dresser. I'm getting the piece it's going on."

That night we didn't really talk much, just mainly painted. I leaned a few things about Phil, though. He was straight, single, and crushing on my friend Louise. She was blonde, and very very pretty. She wasn't popular, but a lot of guys did like her. He also was in the football team, no surprise there though.

He learned some things about me, too. How I was bisexual, I was a painter, quiet, a nerd, in love with feminine things and I loved the color red. I had a cat named Rune and a turtle named Frankie.

"So, I'll call you tomorrow?" He said in a hopeful tone.

"Sure," I nodded. "See you then." I closed the front door, ran to my room where happily climbed into bed. I was glad he was gone, he was hard to conversate with, honestly.

My phone lit up, and I grabbed it.
