I sat with my feet tucked under me as I began brushing Eva's hair.

"Dad it hurts!" She whined. I could imagine her bottom lip sticking out as her big doe green eyes helped with the puppy face.

"You've got to have it brushed, Eva." I told her. "Its either brushes or a hair cut."

"How short?" She asked, looking up at me.

"Like your grandfathers." Phil said from the doorway.

Eva gasped loudly and hugged her long, curly, black hair. "No! You can brush it!"

"Good choice." I smiled. I finished up the brushing, and let her run off to play.

"She reminds me of you," Phil said as he sat down next to me.

   "How so?" I asked.

"She's so curious of the sky and what's out there. Yet she's so sassy and mouthy." He chuckled and took my hand. I rested my head on his shoulder and closed my eyes. I listened as small footsteps quickly approached us.

"Daddy can Lily come over to play?" She asked.

   "Yes dear." Phil answered.

Life was perfect, in this little moment. I had everything I ever wanted. A daughter, an amazing boyfriend, and a house to ourselves. This was our own little heaven. Nothing could take it away.
