"She still hasn't moved?" Chris Argent asked softly.

"She hasn't, not since this happened" The Sheriff replied, sympathy but also serious lines etched into his face.

"Melissa, you need to eat" Chris said gently, he walked towards her still form.

A shudder ran through her.

"I'm not leaving him" She said lowly.

"Melissa-" The Sheriff said shakily.

She turned to face them angrily but not getting up, her gaze fierce "I am not leaving him!"

A whimper...

Melissa twisted back round sharply, she hovered over him, her eyes wide.

"Scott, honey? Can you hear me? Scott?"

Her voice desperate.

"Have you ever seen anything like this?" The Sheriff asked Chris worriedly.

"Nothing like this" Chris said shakily.

Scott was lying in the ware house where he had fallen. Unconscious but his body would sometimes spasm with pain and twist unnaturally.

The same when for the rest of the pack. They were all lying on the floor, unconscious and in deep pain.

The Sheriff had found them like this and had quickly worked out it was something to do with the  pack. They didn't dare risk moving them.

Melissa instead, once she had realised the hospital would not help, she had wrapped all the beta's up in sheets.

So the poor children didn't get a cold she had said., Despite knowing werewolves did not get colds.

From there she had sat next to her sons body, refusing to move.

Just...waiting.

The pack had been like this for a couple of days at least.

Then it happened again.

Erica screamed, she was still unconscious but her scream was of pure pain.

"I don't know how to stop their pain" Melissa said tearfully.

They all soon couldn't bare it, covering their ears at the piercing sound.

After Erica finally stopped screaming, soon Derek started, his body bending in an awkward angle, like some had grabbed him and bending his spine the  wrong way, just before it was about to snap, it stopped.

Chris, the Sheriff and Melissa had turned away, feeling ill watching it happen.

Another whimper came from Scott.

"It hurts, it hurts, it hurts"  He cried but still he was not aware.

Melissa tried to stop her own tears, what kind of mother was she? When she couldn't even take care of her son?

The Sheriff was finally able to tear her away from him, after opening up about Stiles.

Stiles...

Who he was probably never going to see again.

Stiles...

The son that he failed to protect.

That he still got drunk over, loosing his grief and pain within the drink.

A couple more days past, almost two weeks.

They had started to become desperate but then...Derek woke up...

He was the first to wake up but it was gradual and slow. He wasn't able to move his body at first. He couldn't even talk, it had hurt to much. The Sheriff and Melissa took turns to feed him, much to his embarrassment and uncomfortableness.

The parents noticed there was a haunted look in his eyes that wasn't there before.

The pack slowly came back, following the same process as Derek.

Melissa had cried with delight and joy once Scott had finally opened his eyes however like Derek's eyes, they seemed haunted as did the rest of the pack.

Erica didn't say a word for a couple of weeks after...

Her first words...

"What is this feeling Derek? Theres a hole in my chest and I barely feel connected to you anymore"

Derek hadn't answered, only cringing.

Everything had been of kilter, they couldn't communicate like they used to or connect like they used to.

Surprisingly it was Scott that answered. guilt throughout "Thats Stiles? Isn't it? The broken bond is doing this to us, because we abandoned him"

Erica rolled her eyes and snapped "We didn't abandon him, he was better of there"

He couldn't get in the way then she thought coldly.

But as she thought this, strangely her chest ached horribly.

She didn't know why.

Isaac shuddered "Tell that to our bodies, we could barely move afterwards because of that broken bond. The pain was to much, you're telling me it was just coincidence?"

Erica scowled but she didn't reply.

No one had an answer to that.

The next month the pack hardly got together, it just didn't feel right anymore, not with a pulse piece missing.

Melissa could only watch as her son waisted away in front of her.

"His hardly eating! You and Chris lost your children, please" She begged the Sheriff desperately "Help me make sure I don't lose mine

The rest of the pack was having the same problem, all feeling an emptiness in their chests that they just couldn't fill, no matter what they did.

Isaac had gone missing, running away.

Erica was not eating either and hardly talked anymore.

It was usual for Boyd not to talk but this time there was something in his eyes when you looked at him, something empty.

And Derek...suffered in silence and loneliness.

The pack was hardly together anymore.

What am I even an alpha of? Derek had wondered, one morning. Waking up once again, in a lonely house. No one else there...

And then...

Everything changed.

And the change came to the Sheriff's house. It was hope.

My son, the Sheriff thought, staring at his sons hologram.

My sons alive!

He wasn't sure why Stiles had not wanted to talk about the pack. They were in a bad shape, he was sure Stiles would do anything to help once he found out how much the pack or even ex pack had changed without him.

But the odd hologram cut of before the Sheriff could tell Stiles.

He may not be able to inform Stiles of the packs condition but he sure as hell could tell the pack about Stiles!
