It took years for the pack finally feel like a unit again. Three years to be exact. In this time the pack had tried to go back for Stiles, not seeing any other option in trying to make the pack whole once more but though they looked, the cave would always avoid their prying eyes. They could never find it, each time they looked for it.
Almost like someone had plucked the cave out of existence. Boyd had come to the conclusion, maybe only humans could find it but even with the Sheriff, they found nothing. It was so strange, almost like Stiles had vanished from this existence.
It was three years afterwards when they finally found the cave.
They had stopped looking for the cave after a year and a couple of months of breaking the bond. The pack focused on becoming a pack again. With the supernatural threatening Beacon Hills still they were all forced to work together, despite lacking the balance they used to have.
But they made it through.
They survived.
After three years the pack had finally started to settle, getting used to a life without Stiles. There pack bonds finally balancing each other out once again.
So what changed?
Why did they seek out Stiles again, after the years went past?
The answer was a little ironic Derek thought grimly as they stood within the cave, the shadows thickened around them. They needed him, for his research...
Into the shadow beings.
The shadow beings vanished three years ago and now they were back. They had been back for a month, in that time killed a handful of people. The Pack had almost been overwhelmed, they had tried to put it of but they could only think of one person who had read about and knew about them and its wasn't Deaton.
Stiles.
"Make sure you don't step in the shadows" Derek warned his pack.
"I can't believe we're doing this, everything was just going back to normal and now this?" Erica sighed.
"He'll change everything" Isaac muttered.
"If his still alive and even in shape enough to help us. The Sheriff was only in contact with Stiles once, remember? It was ages ago but the Sheriff was so worried, he said Stiles was covered in scars" Boyd muttered.
No one replied to that.
Scott had been quite, ever since they had found the cave.
He'd been the one to find it.
"Isn't it strange though, that we could never find it and only now we did?" Isaac asked.
Derek nodded, agreeing.
"Almost like someone wants us to find it" Erica said, she shuddered.
Scott glanced at the pack and then closed his mouth, opening it again, then closing it.
He needed to tell them.
He should tell them.
But he couldn't bring his crazy idea from his thoughts to his mouth.
When he was searching in the woods, Scott had started to think about him, think about Stiles then...he just started to talk, as if Stiles could hear him.
"Stiles, I know this is futile but wherever you are, I wish you could hear me. Please, please give us another chance. We messed up. I messed up. I'm sorry"
His voice had started to crack.
"I'm sorry Stiles, I'll never leave you again. I want to make it up to you, I just wish I had the chance. We've been a mess without you! We need you and not just for you're research. Though we've stabilised the pack, I can still feel it, we all can, the hole in ourselves where you should be"
He'd never see Stiles again.
Never be able to tell him...
"I'm so so sorry Stiles! I-I miss you!" Scott choked out, into thin air.
Then...
Thats when it had happened.
Seconds after his confession.
Scott found the cave.
It was almost like, Scott thought, like Stiles had heard his cry for help but no, that was crazy, wasn't it? But finding the cave after searching for it for so long before they had given up and now he'd found it? It just didn't seem like a coincidence.
The pack were walked deeper into the cave as Scott struggled with himself.
That feeling they all remembered was back, telling them they should turn back. Derek tried not to let his uncomfortableness show, he had to be strong, for his pack.
But it was hard, especially with all his instincts screaming at him to turn back.
But they needed to do this Derek thought determinedly, for themselves, for Beacon Hills and...for Stiles.
The pack slowed as they neared the end.
Erica gasped, with awe and fear.
The exact same portal, it was like nothing had changed, it was still there.
Giving way to the sorcerous realm.
Derek glanced at his pack, they had gone through so much together but he was sure this would be the ultimate test. For Beacon Hills, to stop those shadow beings from killing anymore innocent people and terrorising his territory Derek prepared himself to do what ever it took to get Stiles back.
Even take Stiles from the sorcerous realm by force if necessary and he'd fight any sorcerer who got in his way.
The pack all met his gaze. Some more reluctantly than others but they all where firm, willing to follow their alpha into this unknown terrain, maybe even to there deaths...
None of them knew what this would bring.
They had no idea what was in store for them on the other side.
But still...
The pack went through the portal to the sorcerous realm, together.
