[I like big words and I cannot lie]

Star didn't sit with me on the bus. Which was fine; she sat in the front and I sat in the back. She sat with all my friends and I was in the back with Lars and Toby and some girl that speaks some foreign language and once asked me if had a guillotine.
I sink in my seat, my bag rising so my head could rest on it, but it still remain hooked on my back. My wand was under all my books and wrapped in paper towels and rubber bands. If anyone asked what it was, I'd say it was a ceramic vase or something, something I needed to protect.
"Am I the one that's gonna have to ask why you're here?" Someone asks. They had a deep voice but it wasn't Toffee's, it wasn't slick but uneven and almost scared. It sounded like it was the one of the people behind me.
"I would have asked," A clearly immature voice responds. "But I don't really care."
"Oh please you are just as manipulative as I am, boy."
I squint my eyes and peer back in an attempt to look though the seat. Man, the people behind me were sure having a bizarre conversation, no wonder I'm usually at the front with Star.
"I am nothing like you!"
"Technically you are."
"Well you're a horrible person and I'm nice, big difference." The softer voice scoffs, clearly feeling as if they were winning. There voice had grown in loudness and annoyance. I grit my teeth, damn did they have to be so loud? The whole bus was noisy but they were shouting. And I could not for the life of me figure out what they were so upset about. Role players maybe?
"You're naive, not nice. You have no idea what's going to happen to you." The deeper voice continues, sounding almost scared.
"I do. I'm going to win and you're going to loose."
"Oh please, you sure?"
"Yeah!"
"So naïve. You don't get the world."
"I do get people, though. Unlike someone I know I have patience and I believe in change."
"And that was your downfall." The deeper voice stopped shaking a little, but was still uneasy.
The softer voice groans and mimics, "And that was your downfall." He finished with blowing a raspberry and a snicker.
And that cracked the other guy, who shouted: "YOU IMMATURE LITTLE SPEC!"
I grab my ears and growl, they were so freakin loud.
"WELL YOU'RE A MEANIE."
"GOOD COME BACK YOU CHILD!"
"OH SO THATS WHAT-"
"OH MY LORD!" I turn around to the two people and shout. "SHUT THE FRICK UP!" As my anger dies down, I see Oskar and that foreign girl with pink and purple hair staring at me. My hands clam up and my lip quivers, tears threatening to break through my eyes. "Uh..."
Oskar, who was thoroughly confused, throws his long black hair off to the side and says, "You think I shouldn't cut it?"
"What?" I begin to shake. "No you two were just... Arguing about..."
The girl blinks, says something and her and Oskar share a laugh.
My face puffs red and I frantically climb my way to the front as the bus slides to a stop. Star grabs my hand and asks quietly if I'm okay. I pull it away and march down the stairs and onto the sidewalk, successfully tripping on the curb a little. There was a chorus of laughter, and the immature guy from before yelling at everyone to shut their keyholes. Where was this guy on Friday?
But I make it to the locker without injuring or humiliating myself, so that's gotta count for something.
"Heyyyy Marco..." Star says delicately, like I'm an egg that's teetering on the edge of the counter.
"Hi." I say dully, bags under my eyes. As I pull my books from my locker, I let out a big yawn and groan.
"You okay?" She asks, still seeing me as an egg.
"Yeah just tired." I blink heavily.
"You sure?" She says, arms out a bit ready to defend herself if I fell and cracked. "You seem a little... Off?"
"Yeah no. Don't worry I'm fine." I reassure her, then turn around to leave but my heart sinks. Brittany Wong shows up behind me in a black jean shorts and a crop top with a cat's face on it. The cat had green eyes, they were as sickly and evil as the pimp who was wearing it. Brittany stops on front of me and, since she was wearing heels, she stood a whole head above me.
"Can I help you?" I ask as I rest my hands on the straps of my bag.
She snickers obnoxiously and flaunts her black hair. "Uh yeah! You could not knock over our tray cart today during lunch hah hah hah!" A few passerbyers join in with a loud snicker.
"Don't pay attention to them. It's easier to be mean when you're in a crowd." The teenager from before says. I turn to my left to see a boy peering from the corner. He's gone as soon as he came, so all I saw was his shabby black hair.
"Listen here Brittany," Star slides in front of me. "You are a-"
"No." I grab Star's shoulder and push her behind me. She trips and falls into the locker while I plant my feet firmly in front of Brittany. "Please continue your royal highness. I wanna here your opinion of me."
"Besides your freaky nature?" She laughs. Kids join in. "You're a spaz, Marco Diaz. No matter what you say you are a safe little spaz. And that's all you'll ever be. I mean, you're a lot more than just that. I could go on for a century about how lame you are."
I nod sarcastically. "Mhm mhm anything else?"
She raises an eyebrow at me. "You are just a little loser nerd that has no friends. Just a little spazzy looser, even your two little friends, Fer-gusting and Al-freak show don't want to be seen with you."
I nod. "You're being a little redundant and your voice is a tad quieter now. Can you speak up?"
She knits her eyebrows at me, "What?"
I open my eyes wide and smile at her, and it hurts my heart a little. This felt almost foreign to me, even though it's my own face. "Well all your insults loose all there heft and meaning as soon as your voice starts wavering. Also, If you're going to keep this up for centuries, I'd rather not get bored. So please refrain from all synonyms and redundancies thanks!"
"What are you even talking about?"
I take a step towards her, my mouth moving before my brain can even think at this point. "I'm talking about how easy it is for you to claim to do things without ever having the power to do it. That's it, Brittany, you have fake and temporary powers. The kind of powers that will go away as soon as high schools over."
"Um no!" She scoffs.
"Um yeah!" I begin to laugh, something beginning to cloud my brain. "Oh please i could completely destroy you in about five seconds."
"Fine then." She cross her arms. "Go. I'll give you the five seconds."
This was the point I felt completely confident. Completely, 100% invincible. I smile again, my muscles feeling awkward and forced.
I take another step towards her and touch my hand to under my bag, which had been riddled with holes throughout all the years of wear and tear. I could feel the paper towel around my wand becoming so hot I'm pretty sure my bag should have caught on fire.
But it didn't. And maybe if it did I would regret what I'm going to do.
"One" she counts annoyed.
I take a step towards her.
"Two." laughter breaks from the crowd.
A smile grows on my face.
"Three." Star says something.
I touch Brittany's arm.
"Four." The childish kid from before screams my name.
The power of my wand crawls from my one hand through my body to Brittany and I can feel my heart rate speeding up to above super human levels.
"Five."

"W-W-What was th-that?" Brittany calls after me as she sits up from her falling down on the ground and smashing her head on the concrete.
I snicker and begin to walk away, off of school campus. I shout back. "I just showed you your worst fear. Hope you had fun!"
"Wow." I can here Toffee admire from a distance. "You were ruthless there."
I scoff and pull at the collar of my white button down. "I'm just tired of people with fake power calling all the shots in this world."
