Cam's POV

She draped her tiny arms around my shoulders as she hugged me. The content sigh that escaped me couldn't be helped, how did I get so blessed to have her?

"Come on big guy, let's go watch some tv," she murmured against my neck. I nodded and stood up, bending over so she could climb on my back. I carried her into the living room. I can't imagine what it must be like for her, waking up having werewolf genes in her system, feeling the force of the mate bond added onto that, it must be overwhelming.

I sat her on the couch as I turned on Netflix and played Grey's Anatomy for her. I always talk about how dumb the show is and how it's a waste of time to watch the show's pointless drama, but it's very addicting. I settled next to her as Jo argued with Alex about something completely irrelevant cause he's a great person and wouldn't do her wrong so she can get over it.

She repositioned herself laying her head onto my chest as her eyes never left the screen. "Do you remeber the first time we spoke?" She called curiously.

Her randomness never ceases to amaze me. I thought about it for a minute, we'd met before we'd actually spoke. I didn't know what to do when I saw her.

Flashback

'Dammit there she is! Do something, let me talk to her, you talk to her, explain all of this, make her stay with us! There she is, doooo somethiiinnngggg!' Kaigen barked as we watched her walk down the path to her bus after school had let out.

We'd already seen and met each other but never spoke. Even now I was worried I'd get carried away and say something wrong.

It's not like I didn't try to speak to her the first time I met her, but... seeing your mate for the first time... it took everything in me not mark her then and there, claiming her as my own. She was so... perfect. She had been sprawled across her couch in an extremely comfortable manner, obviously she'd been there for most of the day and as I walked in her front door her curious eyes had drifted to me and laid there for a while. Neither of us eager to look away. Then Matt had come up behind me and ushered me down the hall. I smiled hearing my mate's voice as she whispered to her brother, "You didn't freaking tell me someone was coming over!" She sounded panicked, "I could have showered!"

Kaigen, I'll talk to her alright. It's not like I don't want to, but you remeber what Matt said about Brennan. Apparently when she spoke to the asshat's friends she was told to either shut up or go away by the person who can only be compared to Satan on his period.

Kaigen growled in anger at the thought that anyone would snap at his mate, 'Just freaking say something to her, now, before I do it for you!'

I looked up at her. She looked tired and fairly annoyed with everyone. She was separated from all of the other kids walking to bus ready to leave school. If her posture didn't convey her exhaustion her clothes certainly did. Her baggy t-shirt draped across her body lazily, the jeans she always wore clinging to her legs, her unruly hair tied in a ponytail at the back of her head.

'You can stare at her while we speak to her! Hurry up and talk to her before you mess up our chance!' Kaigen growled pacing around my head in anticipation. He was very close to taking control of my body and speaking to her himself.

"What up Jade?" I called before I could chicken out.

Kaigen growled and snapped his teeth to show he was frustrated and angry at my actions, 'Really?! 'What up?' That's the first thing you want her to hear from you, 'What up?!''

I internally growled at him. As I waited for her answer, I heard her smack her mouth in annoyance as she gazed at some of the kids walk past her. I saw her gaze linger on a few of the students as she walked. 'She didn't fucking hear you! Say it again you ugly ass!'

I think you're verbally abusive to me. You do realize we're equal, the same person right?! I snapped to the little voice in my head. This time I called with more emphasis, "Jade, what's up?"

That got her attention. She turned the opposite way to where I was standing, and had to turn uncomfortably to see me. As she was searching for the voice that had pulled her out of her thoughts, a confused, tired, and I don't even know the word for it... animalistic? No, incoherent? Anyway, a weird "hugmph?" Emerged groggily from the depts of her throat.

It was surprisingly hard to hold back the laugh that threatened to fight through my chest. I bit my tongue and smiled at her as I forced myself to repeat with a straight face, "What's up?"

Understanding and recognition flooded her features, if I'm not mistaken I think I saw a tinge of red creep up the collar of her shirt as she realized I'd repeated myself three times now. She blundered over her words as she tried to think of a response in the socially exceptable amount of time, "Oh... I'm just... going to the bus?" Was she asking me or telling me? Her eyebrows then drew together as she adressed the elephant in the room, "No offense, what are you doing? You know like... here?" She quizzed while motioning to the school and administration buildings around us.

I gave a lopsided grin, "It is kinda weird to see a graduated student roaming the campus isn't it? Most kids after they graduate kiss this place goodbye and don't look back," I sighed as I took a lingering look at the familiar buildings, "there's an alumni baseball game this weekend, making sure some things are still set up with Coach." I surprised myself by using the casual adress I'd used for our school's athletic director all through my highschool career. Nostalgia hits like a truck.

"Ohhhh," she whispered her understanding, "Matt doesn't tell me anything." She glanced over her shoulder at the busses lined up, "Crap my bus is next, I've got to hurry! It was good seeing you, Cameron. I'll talk to you later, bye!" By the end she had already started moving toward her bus after throwing me a lingering look.

All I could do was wave at her. I didn't trust my lips to form real words. She was beautiful in the most surprising of ways. How she can make a casual conversation about an upcoming baseball game heartwarming will never make sense to me.

Alright I'm done stalling... I'll get them moving with the next chapter. I do think that after I'm finished with this book I'll go back and rework parts of the story. I went back several times with this chapter and tried to give it a little more depth (not sure if it worked or not) but realized I could probably do the same thing with other parts of the book. The plot will stay the same just more in depth characters.

Soooo... I wrote a part similar to this one and after I posted it I couldn't see it. I figured it hadn't saved, or just... poofed away so I rewrote this. Sorry is there's some confusion. Because I feel like this version is better, I took down the old one... sorry.
